Product Counsel
We’re looking for a Product Counsel to join Team Snapchat! Working from our Los Angeles, CA headquarters, you’ll collaborate with Engineering, Design, and other teams throughout the company to guide the development of new Snap products and technologies, especially within the context of Snap’s privacy-by-design program. Your work plays a critical role in deciding what Snap Inc. will look like in the future.
What you’ll do:
Work closely with Engineering, Product, Design, and Content teams to understand and assess new products and technologies, from early development stages through launch or implementation
Review engineering and design specifications for privacy-by-design requirements
Analyze potential legal risks and regulatory requirements for new products and technologies
Collaborate with legal colleagues on multidisciplinary legal matters
Help scale the legal organization by developing innovative processes to support the fast-moving Engineering, Product, and Design teams
Help draft public-facing descriptions of new products and technologies
Conduct privacy due diligence reviews, privacy impact assessments, and integration plans for potential acquisitions and partnerships
Help track and analyze proposed, pending and new domestic and global privacy and consumer legislation that could impact the business and recommend any potential or necessary modifications to practices, as well as advise Policy team on lobbying priorities
Conduct privacy and product trainings for engineers and other teams across the company.
Minimum qualifications:
JD degree
3-5 years of experience practicing law
Membership in at least one state bar
Preferred qualifications:
Experience advising on domestic and global privacy issues, including ones related to the GDPR, Privacy Shield, U.S. consumer protection laws, cookies regulation, and the CCPA
Experience advising product teams
Knowledge of global privacy and consumer protection laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for ad tech, and Internet companies
In-house experience or law firm experience counseling clients on privacy matters
Ad tech experience is a plus
Excellent legal and business judgment and strategic thinking
Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the company on complex, multifaceted issues
Detail-oriented, business-friendly, and a team player, with an ability to think creatively and accommodate tight deadlines
Strong work ethic and able to work independently and collaboratively
