Legal Policy Operations Manager- U.S Safety
Responsibilities
Legal Policy Operations Manager As a Legal Policy Operations Manager, you will be integral in ensuring that TikTok is a safe and trustworthy place for our community. You'll be our main point of contact responding to issues relating to law enforcement, government relations, and safety. You will be working with a variety of stakeholders across the globe, including Policy, Comms, Strategy & Analytics, Quality, and Legal to ensure that TikTok remains a vibrant and creative place for our users. This role will require creative solutions, as well as a deep understanding of legal and abuse trends specific to US cultural norms and sensitivities. Your interest and professional expertise are grounded in extra-curricular and academic interests related to internet policy, user behavior, or platform management. This position will be full-time and will be based in our Los Angeles, CA location. Responsibilities: - Manage and resolve request relating to law enforcement, government entities, and third-party civil attorneys. Ensure that procedures comply with local law and TikTok's terms of service. - Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams and external networks to drive policy and process improvements to issues concerning safety. - Develop programs revolving around burgeoning issue areas related to intellectual property, privacy, and violent extremism. - Coordinate and participate in on-call emergency escalations relating to high priority requests, which may require weekend rotations as needed. - Address sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, child safety, and other potentially objectionable material. - Monitor user feedback and deliver solutions to incoming reports of safety concerns promptly. - Communicate actively with our users and improve the user experience for safety-related issues. - Function as your team's primary advocate for tooling and engineering development
Qualifications
Requirements: - Minimum bachelor's degree (Journalism, Legal studies, Communication, Computer Science or related major preferred) - 5+ years of work experience in Legal Operations, Law Enforcement Response, Trust & Safety, or in an equivalent environment - Strong ability to foster relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. - Excellent coaching skills, with the ability to identify opportunities to spearhead company-impacting initiatives. - Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, identify trade-offs, and make decisions in high-pressure situations. - Strong attention to details, highly self-driven and results oriented Preferred qualifications: - Prior experience in managing others -- preferably in an environment processing legal and law enforcement requests (e.g., civil and criminal subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants). - Experience working with international partners at different time zones. - Bilingual in English and at least one other language (e.g., Mandarin) - Experience managing complex research projects - Experience working in a start-up, or forming new teams in established companies
