Investigator- U.S Safety
Responsibilities

The Safety team at TikTok help ensure that our community is safe and empowered to create and enjoy content across all of our apps while protecting our brand. As a Trust & Safety Investigator, you will work to balance user behavior, growth, and external pressure through systems and policies to ensure our platform's health. You will be working with a variety of stakeholders across the globe, including Policy, Comms, Strategy & Analytics, Quality, and Legal to ensure that TikTok is able to detect, triage, and, if possible, prevent safety incidents from proliferating on our platform -- especially issues regarding coordinated inauthentic behavior and misleading content.
This role will require creative solutions, especially with moderation and quality; as well as a deep understanding of abuse trends specific to US cultural norms and sensitivities. Your interest and professional expertise are grounded in extra-curricular and academic interests related to internet policy, user behavior, or platform management. This position will be full-time and is based in Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities - Review high priority contents involving critical issues revolving around platform manipulation -- including but not limited to misleading content, fake news, impersonation, etc. - Investigate or research cyberbullying or cyberharassment, or associated risks - Draft internal reports containing analytic judgements relying on a combination of internal and external quantitative and qualitative data. - Monitor ongoing current affairs and abusive trends to develop proactive measures to keep the platform safe - Analyze existing policy/procedure to identify gaps, inconsistencies or conflicts and take appropriate action to resolve - Work with technical team to assist in detecting platform integrity-related contents - Perform robust data analysis that both inform long-term strategy and near-term escalations
Qualifications
- Minimum BA/BS degree - 2+ years of work experience as Trust & Safety, investigations, or intelligence analyst - Demonstrated systematic thought process regarding policy and thorough operational experience - Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, identify trade-offs, and make decisions in high-pressure situations - Knowledge in how policy develops in new media, technology, entertainment, or related fields - Experience working with international partners at different time zones - Experience providing a 24/7 support for the internal stakeholders and global team(s) - Analytical experience in a government intelligence organization or business environment. - Basic querying knowledge using SQL
