Together, Carta is creating the end-to-end ERP platform for private markets. Traditional ERP solutions don’t work for Private Funds. The Problems You'll Solve

At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow. As a Lead Product Manager, you will work across our platform to ensure our offerings remain market-leading and transformative.

The Team You'll Work With

At Carta, we believe in a collaborative and inclusive approach to hiring that maximizes both candidate experience and team fit. Our hiring model allows us to match candidates with the team that aligns best with their skills, experience, and career aspirations. At the initial stage of our interview process, you'll have the chance to gain insights into the respective domains we're hiring for:

Fund Tax

We are hiring a Lead Product Manager to lead the evolution of our Fund Tax platform, one of Carta's fastest growing products. Our Fund Tax offering is a critical component of this ecosystem. We bridge the gap between complex accounting data and regulatory compliance, automating the preparation, filing, and distribution of federal and state tax returns (e.g., Form 1065s and Schedule K-1s) for thousands of GPs and LPs. Your mission is to not just  build a better tax product, but to reimagine the way partnership tax is done in venture & private equity in an AI first world. You will be responsible for building the "rails" that allow data to flow from our General Ledger into tax-ready outputs with zero manual intervention.

About You

We are looking for a strong product leader who can drive strategy, prioritization, and product delivery. If you are passionate about building intuitive solutions to complex problems and have a desire to impact how ownership is managed and distributed around the world, we’d love to talk with you.

  • You have 7+ years experience in product management in a high-paced, agile software development environment, with a proven track record of shipping impactful products.
  • You have several years of experience in building products at startups in cross-functional teams with product designers, engineers, and business partners.
  • You are empathic and driven by solving problems for your users. You have the ability to dig deep into their problems and really understand what drives them.
  • You are a systems thinker and solve problems in a holistic way. You draw data flow diagrams in your sleep and complexity makes you salivate.
  • You traverse between altitudes with ease. You can think big picture on product strategy in one moment and then get in the trenches to solve a calculation definition issue in the next.
  • You are resourceful and scrappy in the right ways. You know when to invest versus stand-up fake doors to validate a hypothesis. You understand that sometimes the best path forward may not be through building software.
Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our expected cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:

  •  $204,000 - 240,000 in [San Francisco, CA; Santa Clara, CA; New York, NY]
  •  $193,800 - 228,000 in [Seattle, WA]

We are hiring for multiple levels and locations, so final offers may vary from the amounts listed based on geography, experience and expertise, and other factors.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
