This internship is for Summer 2019. 

Graphics Art Intern to join the team setting the bar for the PS4. This individual will collaborate with the UI team, engineers, artists and designers to collaborate on 3D UI asset creation, Motion concepts, dynamic in game UI elements, concepts, and implementation. 

The UI and Motion Graphics Art Intern will work as part of the cross-disciplinary UI team to create and integrate a range of 3D and animated user interface elements to aid user experience content and functionality. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of creative and technical skills, artistic knowledge, a strong graphic design and motion design skill set, and experience working in Autodesk Maya. 

A strong passion for UI creativity is essential. The candidate should understand working efficiently within memory constraints, have a knowledge and love for the action adventure and fantasy genre, and be able to work collaboratively in a small team on fast paced and evolving tasks. Responsibilities:

  • Creating 3D and 2D UI assets using Maya, and Adobe Creative suite programs.
  • Creating game textures and materials.
  • Support and supplement the creative vision of the Game Director, Art Director, Design Director, and UI/UX team by achieving clarity and visual quality within technical constraints.
  • Explore and push the capabilities of the UI visually.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize and test functionality of UI components.
  • Contribute in crafting the player experience by communicating information through menus, health/damage information, indicating objectives, weapons, pickups, items, skills, upgrades, and player progression systems.
  • Work with other departments across disciplines to overcome problems and challenges.

Qualifications: 

  • Strong artistic, 3D, and motion design skills.
  • Experience working with game textures, materials and material animation.
  • Experience with Autodesk Maya.
  • Love of UI and Design.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills and pipelines

Preferred:

  • Expertise in advanced shader techniques.
  • Technical Art or scripting background.
  • Experience with physical based rendering.
  • Node-based shader editor experience.
  • Experience with film/TV motion graphics a plus.
