Media Research Intern
Bliss Point Media is a rapidly growing performance media advertising agency startup based in Santa Monica that combines world-class media capabilities with cutting-edge statistics and computer science. This position is remote. Bliss Point Media has offices in New York, Santa Monica, and Berkeley.
The Role
Bliss Point distributes a weekly all-client communication summarizing the most important trends and developments in media & advertising, with a particular focus on television and streaming platforms. The goal is ambitious: we strive to provide incremental knowledge and context to an extremely well-informed audience, and to have these highly time-constrained people feel that this is something they must make time to read. We’ve been successful in this aim so far, with many clients having told us this is the most important thing they read each week.
The ideal candidate will be a current university student or a recent graduate. Areas of study consistent with the role would include English, journalism, communications / media studies, and business; however, we welcome candidates from any and all backgrounds who are interested in the opportunity. We expect the scope to be 8 - 12 hours per week, concentrated M - W.
As a research intern, you will work alongside the CEO, the Chief Investment Officer, and the Senior Director of Business Development to produce the newsletter each week. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Sourcing relevant news items from public sources (trade publications, industry newsletters, general news outlets, etc)
- Triaging items for inclusion/exclusion in the week’s update
- Composing summaries (generally, a short paragraph) of each news item
- Copy editing the final newsletter prior to distribution
Background & Competencies
- No prior experience in advertising or media is necessary, but an interest in the field is a big plus
- Very strong English composition skills - we will request a writing sample
- Very organized, exceptional attention to detail and follow through
- Self-starter who enjoys learning, asking questions, and working in a collaborative environment
- Strong time management skills
Compensation
We’re profitable and will offer a competitive total compensation package to the right candidates, with a salary ~22/hr depending on skills and experience.
