About the role and about You:

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be working together with various game subscription teams to create in-game customer facing features enjoyed by Zwifters across the globe. You will be solving challenging software development problems building scalable, high performance and memory efficient solutions. You will also gain exposure to various product and project development processes in highly collaborative and cross-functional development environments. You will get to work closely with teammates from different disciplines including our mobile/server engineering, game art, designs, product, operations, QA and customer support.

 What you’ll do:

  • Develop customer facing features in the most exciting indoor training MMO game by using the industry best practices and development process. 
  • Work with producers, artists, designers, cross functional engineers, QA analysts, and customer service agents to experience and learn the full pipeline in feature development from ideation to post-release monitoring.
  • Take complex engineering problems head on! Draft technical proposal to share the ideas, then collaborate with engineering teammates to iterate, refine, and perfect performant and scalable technical solutions.
  • Assist in development of multiple internal tools including a 3D level editor built by Zwift’s internal game engine, CD/CI release pipeline, automation testing framework...etc. 
  • Develop your bug squashing skills! Work with QA peers to identify repro steps, lean on your detective skills finding clues in CS reports, comb through code bases with fellow engineers to discover and eliminate those pesky digital bugs. 

 What we’re looking for: 

  • Passion in video game development
  • Proficient in C/C++
  • Comfortable in participating in cross functional design and technical discussions.
  • The desire to learn in one or more of the following: gameplay, game systems, content tools, data structure/algorithm, UI development, multiplayer gameplay, multi-threading, memory management, and/or profiling. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

 Bonus points: Developed and/or shipped a video game title 

  • Experience working on an MMO
  • Passionate about cycling and indoor training in general
  • Cross platform experience especially: iOS, tvOS, Android, Mac, and PC
