Job Description

This Summer Intern will contribute to the Apeel Antifungals Project as part of the Biological Sciences Team. The project is multidisciplinary collaboration between Formulations Sciences, Molecular Discovery, Analytical Sciences, Materials Research and Development and Biological Sciences. The individual will utilize cell-based assays to evaluate potency and mode of action of novel types of antifungals for prevention of postharvest mold. 

What You’ll Do

• Cell-based fungal growth assays in 96-well format 
• Potential to adapt existing assays for use with unexplored phytopathogens
• Potential to develop new assays to explore mode of action for fungal inhibitors

 What You Bring

• Hands-on experience in a microbiology or molecular biology research laboratory
• Experience with microtiter plates and multichannel pipettes a plus
• Proficiency in sterile technique
• Keen attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Office suite
