Job Description:

Title: Internal Communications Manager

Location: Chicago, IL

Workstyle: Onsite (In office 5 days a week)

Driven by the Mars Food & Nutrition purpose, Better food today. Better world tomorrow, the Corporate Affairs Manager for the North America region positively drives Associate engagement; drives greater efficiencies and effectiveness in bringing consumer insights into the business for more informed decision making, and meaningfully impacts the people, growth and development of the GRB/BFP supply sites & Chicago communities.
What will be your key responsibilities?

Strategic Business Communications:

  • Proactively lead strategy development and execute internal communications to improve Associate engagement and to drive desired behaviors and culture attributes.
  • Develop and implement strategic business communications to internal stakeholders. Execute communication plans that promote the Food & Nutrition NA highlights to our Associates and leadership, help Food U.S. and Canada Associates understand their role in delivering business objectives, drive Associate engagement and enable Line Manager excellence.
  • Plan, write and distribute communications through various channels including newsletters, town hall meetings, etc.
  • Work with Sr. Corporate Affairs Manager to enable Associates to act as brand and business Ambassadors and to promote key initiatives externally.
  • Lead communications for all change management initiatives for the region in support of its ambition to Build a $1B Business.

Community Engagement:

  • Proactively lead strategy development and execute programs to build a stronger Mars reputation through community engagement and stakeholder management.
  • Build Chicago MVP program to connect Mars Food & Nutrition purpose with Associate engagement and external reputation with local stakeholders.  
  • Develop and execute strategies to ensure successful implementation and impact of Mars interventions to support the improvement of communities.
  • In Chicago, develop strategy, embed and manage Mars Volunteering Program to develop philanthropic relationships that promote and connect Mars Food & Nutrition’s purpose with Associates and external stakeholders
  • Develop KPIs and drive execution to achieve community engagement strategies.
  • Own budget committed to community engagement, including efforts to secure matching funding from other community partners.
  • Deploy and promote Mars Signature Programs, including MVP and MAP, Make the Difference, and Road to Net Zero/Sustainability report across the region.

Consumer Care:

  • Develop consumer facing communications that protect and promote the Mars Food & Nutrition’s reputation in response to complaints, praise or general inquiries.
  • Manage the external call center team and ensure they are properly equipped with up-to-date product, program and business information, enabling them to appropriately interact with our consumers. 
  • Provide analysis to the business and quality/safety team to understand trends, flag potential issues and inform future decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-segment Consumer Care managers to coordinate response on corporate related issues. 
  • Contribute to and execute the global segment Consumer Care transformation agenda to drive better insights into the business while gaining efficiencies by driving more digital-centric consumer interactions

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in internal communications, public affairs, consumer care and social responsibility
  • Strong composure, writing and presentation skills and professional polish
  • Ability to balance community needs with business prioritization
  • Strong relationships, connections and interest in advancing the growth and development of communities In scope.
  • Ability to own and drive multiple complex, high-impact projects concurrently
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence business and community leaders with a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to recommend strategic direction with creative spirit that is grounded in business realities

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 108,160.00 - USD 148,720.00
