 THE PURPOSE:

As a HR Business Partner/Talent Operations Business Partner with a Compensation & Benefits focus, you will drive strategic initiatives for your departmental teams, while also managing compensation and benefits at Virgin Hyperloop One. You’ll be responsible for coaching, performance management, employee relations, and compliance within scope. In this mid-level role, you’ll also be a partner and mentor to colleagues throughout Talent Operations.

THE ROLE:

  • Operate as a strategic partner, providing information, advice, and consultation to team leads
  • Assess, develop, and coach managers and employees
  • Drive performance management, including reviews, promotions, performance commitment plans, and separations
  • Conduct exit interviews and identify trends to support retention, career development, and minimized risk
  • Conduct investigations, recommend and implement corrective actions, and counsel employees and managers, guided by company policies, internal process, industry best practices, and relevant labor laws
  • Manage VHO benefits offerings as primary contact for brokers, carriers, and employees:
    • Ensure accuracy of benefits elections and premium charges: configure open enrollment and life events, review and approve employee elections, review and approve file feeds, reconcile invoices with payroll deductions
    • Prepare annual reporting and ensure legal compliance
    • Recommend plan selections during annual renewal
  • Manage VHO compensation initiatives:
    • Project manage salary surveys
    • Research market rates at peer companies
    • Recommend changes to compensation structure
  • Assist with the creation, documentation, and implementation of policies, programs, and processes
  • Partner with Recruiting, Finance, and team leads to develop and implement effective staffing plans 
  • Implement well-informed, tactical, and strategic interventions and solutions quickly and decisively
  • Maintain standards of strict confidentiality
  • Complete projects as assigned

THE CANDIDATE:

  • A high degree of personal integrity, including the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong project management and organizational skills 
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal savvy
  • Composure to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships with managers and employees
  • Experience partnering collaboratively across the HR and other organizational functions 
  • Experience coaching managers and employees
  • Experience investigating employee relations issues and implementing corrective actions
  • Working knowledge of benefits offerings and administration

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s in a relevant field – MBA or Master’s preferred
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or other HR-specific certification
  • Previous experience in a start-up environment 
  • HR experience in a global engineering organization
  • Bilingual in Spanish
