THE ROLE


As one of the first members of the Talent & People team, the Talent Manager will have a chance to directly impact the growth of Outer by building its most important asset - our team members. The Talent Manager will lead all aspects of the recruitment process from sourcing to interviewing to offer close and will be able to manage multiple requisitions across Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, and other functions. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this person will also own all employer brand initiatives as well as build out partnerships to further Outer’s commitment to a diverse team and inclusive workplace. 


Given the stage of Outer and the ever-evolving business strategy and needs of the company, this role will change over time. New and exciting opportunities arise every day and we are looking for candidates who will embrace and be motivated by that flexibility. 


The Talent Manager role is expected to work out of our Santa Monica, CA office when it re-opens.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Build out and lead external partnerships in coordination with the Marketing team, including Valence, Jopwell, Power to Fly, Built-In LA, and others
  • Partner with hiring managers to hire for 6+ different roles at a time
  • Own the successful administration of job postings and candidate flow in Lever
  • Conduct candidate scheduling, resume reviews, and initial interviews for all requisitions
  • Coordinate the interview process for candidates, ensuring seamless communication and experience 
  • Conduct hiring manager training, weekly check-in meetings, and debriefs
  • Manage the offer close process by seeking out offer approval, drafting, and sending offer letters as well as ensuring a smooth transition to the People team for onboarding

  • Accurate and thorough documentation of the hiring lifecycle in Lever
  • A positive and supportive experience for all Outer hiring managers involved in the recruiting process

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of recruiting experience, preferably in a high-growth environment or startup
  • Experience partnering with hiring managers to develop hiring plans and manage shifting organizational priorities
  • Experience tracking and using recruiting metrics
  • Knowledge of diverse sourcing channels and enthusiasm for bringing inclusion into your workKnowledge of Talent & People best practices, laws, and regulations
  • A high respect for confidentiality, ethics, and the ability to handle sensitive information

SKILLS, REQUIREMENTS, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to manage the entire recruiting lifecycle from job posting to salary negotiation
  • Ability to intentionally manage and configure the hiring process, including reviewing job descriptions and structuring interview questions, to mitigate bias and create greater equity
  • Consultative mindset to partner with hiring managers to drive success in the candidate pipeline and interview processExceptional communication skills to represent Outer to candidates and external partners 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple candidate, requisitions, and tasks at one
  • Attention to detail as demonstrated in offer letters, candidate documentation, and in all Talent processes
