The Role:

StackCommerce is looking for a talented, experienced and deeply passionate People Operations Manager to manage and lead our HR & Culture team. This person will be reporting directly to our SVP of Finance and HR and will be responsible for owning all HR and Culture related initiatives for the company. The ideal candidate is a strategic self-starter who thrives on taking ownership and executing under minimal direction who also loves to make a big impact. The person must be a strong communicator and facilitator as they will be in one of the most highly visible and impactful roles at the company. This is a unique opportunity to interact with the employees at all levels including working closely and partnering with the C-level executive team including our Founder & CEO and COO. The position offers a tremendous amount of growth and increase in responsibility as this person will also be heavily involved in the integration of any potential companies Stack acquires in the future.


What You’ll Do:

  • Recruiting & Onboarding. Own the recruiting process from beginning to end.
    • Post jobs, source and vet candidates, schedule and manage the interview process, etc.
    • Manage agency recruiters including their submission and scheduling process  
    • Develop company programs to incentivize great leads, track all data, build tools and implement software for optimizing the recruiting processes
    • Coordinate and manage new hire onboarding including facilitating background and reference checks, offer letters, new hire paperwork, benefits and training coordination. 
  • Benefit enrollment and administration. Own the PEO evaluation process and aid employees with new benefit enrollment and assist the SVP of Finance and COO in the annual open enrollment process by helping to review financials, make selections, and coordinate any changes.
  • Compensation, Raises, and Promotions. Work with the COO &  SVP of Finance to manage our data-driven process to ensure Stack has industry leading compensation strategies that are fair and competitive and align incentives. Evaluate and propose employee compensation based on market data. Create and coordinate annual employee review processes ensuring timely completion and actionable outcomes.
  • Offboarding. Coordinate and manage the offboarding process, including, standard procedures, payroll, and exit interviews. Manage all COBRA inquiries and EDD claims and filings.
  • Company Handbook & Compliance. Update/revise the employee handbook & company policies as required by law or necessary for the business and new hires to align with all Federal and State laws in which the Company conducts business.
  • HRIS, PEO, Training, & Goals. Responsible for maintaining all HRIS data and ensuring information is accurate and current. Oversee and assist with all coordination and correspondence with Stack’s PEO. Assist in creation of and oversee implementation of a training strategy and roadmap that focuses on performance management, management training/coaching, organizational development, and employee relations. Assist with goal setting and tracking process.
  • Personnel Management. Review employee complaints and ensure accurate and timely documentation of concerns or issues. Facilitate actions to resolve the employee issues and escalate them to the management team as needed/required.
  • Employee Engagement & Relations. Monitor, report on, and suggest recommendations for improvement around employee engagement (turnover, employee net promoter score, etc.). Assist in the budgeting and planning process for all employee relation activities.
  • HR Business Partner. Provide coaching and guidance to executives, managers and employees with emphasis on helping individuals understand what their options are for each situation. Partner with managers to identify gaps and to manage business needs and expectations. 
  • Culture. Complete ownership while working with the HR & Culture coordinator to cultivate a strong hybrid (in office + remote) work culture. Create new programs for employees to engage and interact with each other with the goal to keep making Stack an amazing place to work at.
  • Events. Come up with and execute a rich and exciting events calendar for the team to foster strong company culture. This includes company offsites, hack days, team bonding events, holiday parties and company celebrations and milestones. You will be the master of the agenda, communication and event coordination.  
  • Office Management. Keep the office organized in coordination with the HR coordinator and order supplies when needed. Liaise with property managers, real estate brokers, cleaning crews, and repair services to keep the office running optimally. 
  • Confidentiality. Demonstrate the utmost discretion and sensitivity around highly confidential information.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in HR and recruiting or similar background
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of federal and California employment laws, EEO regulations, and standard HR practices and procedures
  • A high level of confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of colleagues and external partners
  • Able to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in any situation.
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to monitor own work to ensure quality
  • Tech savvy: experience with Google Docs, Microsoft Office, everything Apple.

Big Pluses:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related; or HR Certification from an accredited program/college
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment

  • Homework Assignment: We send over a quick financial modeling exercise that challenges you to solve a problem and come up with a creative solution and show off your great skills. Get a feel for what you’ll be doing on a daily basis!
  • Remote-Team Interview: You’ll be meeting with team members on a video call. This is your chance to ask questions and see who this role interacts with on a daily basis.
  • Final Video Call: This is a great opportunity to get to know our COO or CEO over video.
