You will play a strategic role working closely with the Founders and other members of the Executive Team to build a world-class employee base with effective, scalable systems and processes that reinforce these tenets through action (and merit).

You will lead, organize, and direct all aspects of recruiting, facilities management, organizational development, culture, and human resources functions at GOAT. This includes talent acquisition, on-boarding and off-boarding talent, training and development, leadership and succession planning, performance management, executive and employee compensation, employee benefits, all matters of employment law, any employment-related compliance matter, employee relations and culture, integrations for future acquisitions, and working with outside counsel regarding relevant employment law and lease agreements.

The ideal person will have dealt with a company that has experienced hyper-growth and will know how to balance process and rigor with speed and flexibility. You will ultimately lay the foundation for all people operations at GOAT and play a vital role in fulfilling our mission of becoming the premier next-generation mobile marketplace. Additionally, you will lead integration and unify all locations/teams across Los Angeles and Secaucus, NJ.

Human Resources specific duties include:

  • Leadership. Direct the activities of the HR team. Create, communicate, execute, and manage the department budget. Develop alignment between company values and HR practices.
  • Employee on-boarding. Continuously refine and execute effective employee orientation programs.
  • Compensation / benefits. Create and manage the benefits offering staying on top of recent trends and ensuring GOAT balances budget requirements with employees needs to remain competitive with top companies.
  • Multiple locations. Responsible for managing warehouse facilities and corporate offices on both West Coast and East Coast, both from a people and operational standpoint.
  • Company Integrations. Managing a seamless integration of future company acquisitions by GOAT from a people, processes, and operational standpoint.
  • Retention and rewards. Ensure optimal levels of talent retention by developing processes to identify key talent and programs designed to make GOAT an attractive place of employment.
  • Workforce planning. Lead the continuous creation and execution of effective staff planning (hourly vs. full-time), including creating practices that attract and secure high-caliber talent.
  • HR Information Systems (HRIS). Oversee the administration and maintenance of GOAT HRIS platform (Namely) to ensure it appropriately supports the business and compliance aspects for the company.
  • Policies and processes. Develop, implement, and consistently administer employee policies that comply with applicable law and advance objectives in the jurisdictions where GOAT has offices or operations. Develop and manage the employee handbook, and ensure that company-wide practices align with company culture.
  • Training and development. Implement training programs and tools to assist managers to supervise and motivate their direct reports and help employees grow their skill sets, and continuously improve their performance.
  • Performance Management. Ensure that appropriate performance management philosophies, programs, and practices are implemented and executed in support of a culture that values accountability and high performance.
  • Compliance. Work with outside counsel to ensure that policies and practices comply with all applicable laws, and when necessary investigate and direct GOAT responses to workplace complaints. Create policies and understand risks for employee separation, including such aspects as consulting counsel, severance payments, protected classes, and GOAT policy on references.

Talent Acquisition specific duties of this role include:

  • Recruiting leadership. Build, lead, and mentor a resourceful, proactive, and solution-oriented recruiting team. Create the recruiting budget and manage costs. Assign searches and define recruitment-related projects to in-house recruiters and contractors.
  • Employment branding. Manage GOAT as an employer brand including all internal (websites, careers page) and external (LinkedIn, Glassdoor, The Muse, etc.) facing resources.
  • Diversity. Incorporate GOAT core values into the recruitment process, focusing on the identification, selection, and retention of a diverse workforce.
  • Partner with the business. Drive talent resource forecasting and succession planning to ensure proactive candidate pipeline development across all teams. Partner cross-functionally in all aspects of the candidate and new hire experience to ensure a smooth and efficient on-boarding process.
  • Sourcing strategy. Determine proper mix of sourcing modalities to ensure cost effective and creative recruitment of quality candidates (e.g. internet, social media, contingency firms, retained firms, referrals, professional associations, university relationships, etc.).
  • Applicant Tracking Systems. Manage an effective ATS. Define, track, and analyze weekly recruiting metrics and develop practical tracking and reporting methods to monitor and improve performance.
  • Campus recruiting. Manage internship and campus-recruiting programs to ensure the company is attracting the best university talent. Manage all local recruiting, including job fairs.
  • Reporting. Create dashboards to monitor and communicate recruiting goals against target, and guide the team to execute against shifting organizational priorities.
  • Processes. Optimize recruiting processes and interview structures to create a thoughtful candidate experience in the most efficient / effective manner possible. Collaborate with hiring managers to create and execute recruiting strategies that cater to the varied needs while adhering to best practices. Manage the new hire offer process and ensure compensation packages are competitive with market standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources focused roles within high-growth environments known for having strong culture, exceptional employment brands, and top talent.
  • Experience building teams in high-volume / fast-paced environments, closing complex positions, negotiating compensation, and building an innovative and sustainable talent acquisition strategy.
  • Ability to engage at the executive level of the organization, interfacing with key leaders across and up the chain to formulate plans and influence talent strategies.
  • Experience working at a company with 200-300 employees; we are open to even larger, but its critical to know the challenges facing GOAT today and to recognize that GOATis a startup.
  • Experience with mergers & acquisitions is a plus.
  • Experience with Retail store HR experience is a plus.
  • Experience with modern technology talent software like Namely, Lever, Greenhouse, Gusto, Workday, and other recent technology innovations in the HR category.
  • Experience with the variety of daily issues including: worker’s compensation, facilities management, independent contractors, overtime, meal and rest periods, immigration, unemployment insurance, discrimination (per state and federal), pregnancy, disability (ADA), age, gender, diversity, family and medical leave (state and federal), sexual harassment training, and EEOC reporting.
  • Proven ability to stay abreast of market and competitive trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, empower, and develop talent.
  • Ability to travel to other offices and attend after hours networking events, seminars, and career fairs.
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or other graduate degree from top tier program is a bonus.
