Seeking Director of People for Hyper-Growth Food Tech Company Ranked as one of LA’s “Best Places to Work”

There is nothing more important to the success of a company than attracting, training and retaining your best talent. That’s why at SnackNation we are looking for a leader of people who will be dedicated to the success of everyone on our team and help them become the best versions of themselves.

Before we get into the role, a little bit about us…

SnackNation is the leading healthy snack membership experience, fueling high performing companies and empowering healthy lifestyles across the U.S.

SnackNation exists to inspire more conscious food decisions. We do this by connecting healthier brands with engaged consumers through a smart marketplace. We understand that snacks are not just snacks, but are integral to living a happier, healthier, more purposeful life.

We currently curate and deliver great tasting snacks to hundreds of millions of people in thousands of awesome offices – places like DreamWorks Studios, MailChimp, Mercedes-Benz & Postmates. Our healthy snack boxes are an easy way to kick-start the vibrant company culture that the best organizations leverage to recruit and retain top talent. We also provide our unparalleled snack curation to thousands of homes across the country via SnackNation Market.

SnackNation is also committed to fighting hunger. Since 2016, SnackNation has donated over 3 million meals to families in need through our partnership with Feeding America.

The Role

As Director of People, you’ll play a strategic role in curating our culture during a period of incredible growth. You will be the voice & the face of the company when it comes to finding the best candidates to join our team and welcoming them to SnackNation on Day 1. You will also be the partner for our Leadership team in developing the playbook to develop tomorrow’s managers and leaders. You will also be shaping our compensation and benefits strategy, while making yourself available as a resource for everyone at the company.

Sounds like a lot of responsibility! But trust us, it’s worth it because...

1. Growth is fun. We’re one of the fastest-growing companies in America and you’ll have a unique opportunity to apply your experience to an environment that is changing every day and growing the team by leaps and bounds.

2. The work is fulfilling. We aspire to make the world a better place. We believe in our products and services – that’s why we challenge ourselves to do the best work of our lives, which will create a lasting impact on the world.

3. Our values mean something. When you come into our office you’ll see our values on the wall, but much more importantly you will feel them too. We live by these values and you’ll get the opportunity to further shape our culture through these values:

Health Above All Else

Display Grit Without Ego

Serve & Inspire

Seek Perpetual Growth

Spread Joy & Optimism

More about the role…

This is not your standard “Director of HR” role

You’ll a key member of the Leadership Team – managing the entire People & Recruiting team – and will be responsible for maintaining the alignment between our company values and all HR-related practices and policies. You will be a true partner with every single VP at the company to help facilitate the culture and success of the company. We lead with a “people-first, product-second” mentality and you will be tasked with making sure this never changes.

Making People Better

You’ll need to know how to implement training programs & tools that will assist managers in hiring, managing and motivating their respective teams. You’ll build out world-class development curriculums and performance management programs to develop leaders across the company.

Finding New All-Stars

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of recruiting & onboarding – this includes building & leading the recruiting team to fill open positions within the given time & budget demands, managing the SnackNation employer brand across all internal/external resources, determining the best candidate sourcing strategy, and delivering the best new hire onboarding program.

It’s Not JUST about the Money

You’ll be helping structure the overall benefits and perks for the team. With a value like “Health Above All Else” and a company that provides healthy snacks to offices nationwide, you better believe that we need to offer an amazing benefits & perk package to our team – so long as they fit with all of our values.

Getting Everyone on the Same Page

You’ll be responsible for updating the employee handbook and administering all employee policies. Those systems (HRIS – Paycom & ATS – Lever) must always be up-to-date and available to provide accurate reports to the Leadership team.

Protect the Company

You will also ensure that all policies and practices comply with all applicable laws and, if necessary, follow-up on all workplace complaints & employee separations, including such aspects as engaging outside counsel, managing severance payments, protecting SnackNation from all employee-related risks.

The right candidates will have:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in human resources, preferably with exposure to high-growth, entrepreneurial environments

  • Developing world-class company cultures over a team of 100+ employees

  • Best-in-class recruiting knowledge with experience implementing best practices that scale with a business

  • Demonstrated skill in resolving employee relation issues and gaining employee confidence and trust

  • Proven ability to thrive in an ever-evolving environment with success in coaching, empowering, and counseling managers and employees to develop within their team and advance their career

  • Experience with the broad spectrum of HR subject matters including: worker’s compensation, unemployment insurance, discrimination (per state and federal), pregnancy, disability (ADA), age, gender, diversity, family and medical leave (state and federal), sexual harassment training, and EEOC reporting

  • Undergraduate degree required

Compensation:

Compensation is commensurate with your experience and proven past successes. We’ll design the package collectively, including a competitive base salary plus performance bonus and equity.

Is the right next step for you??

Come be our leader of people and help us take a company already voted as one of the “Best Places to Work” in LA by Los Angeles Business Journal and one of the “Top Company Cultures” by Entrepreneur Magazine, to the next level as a destination for the best people to become even better versions of themselves and have a ton of fun along the way!

At SnackNation, we envision a world where everyone, everywhere has access to healthier food.

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

Since joining this company, I've been immersed in the complex, thrilling, and ever-changing world of eCommerce. The B2C arm of our company is small, mighty, and growing rapidly. It's fun being along for the ride, and invaluable. I'm now sure I'll devote my career to eCommerce, and my career path was illuminated by my experience here at SnackNation.

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

Most importantly, SnackNation has taught me that career growth goes hand in hand with personal growth. Since working here, I've changed my eating habits, sleeping schedule, improved the way I manage my finances and pushed my physical limits to the next level by doing a few 100 mile bike rides. All with the help and willingness from my coworkers.
