THE PURPOSE:

This critical role will drive the strategic Talent Operations initiatives in the areas of change management, cultural alignment, employee engagement, employee relations, inclusion and diversity, leadership development, performance management, organizational design, workforce planning, and compensation management in alignment with the business priorities of the assigned Engineering teams at Virgin Hyperloop One. This is a senior level human resources position that will serve as a key member of the Talent Operations leadership team. We are seeking a hands-on leader who is able to deliver value-added best-in-class support, while serving as a strategic partner, employee mediator, Talent Operations operational manager, and trusted confidant.

THE ROLE:

  • Will work as a strategic partner and advocate to Engineering team leads and senior management to develop and translate business strategy to talent management strategy and coordinate implementation  
  •  Provides senior level partnership, advice, consultation and intelligence regarding organizational effectiveness to the business leaders  
  • Proactively assesses needs and identifies and implements tactical and strategic interventions and solutions  
  • Will assess, develop and coach senior managers and their direct reports in Engineering as needed 
  •  Must be able to understand the business and its challenges in order to help address the organization and people needs 
  •  Partners with recruiting and understands the financial, technical, economic, and talent drivers of the business to effectively help develop and implement a staffing and talent management plan that supports the organizational strategy and business objectives 
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and practices are implemented consistently and efficiently across the organization and that the organization is fully compliant with all aspects of the laws pertaining to employment in the workplace 

THE CANDIDATE:

  • Extensive experience influencing executives and other business leaders individually and collectively 
  • Courage to propose solutions and act in the face of resistance in the best interests of the business  
  • Strong project management and organizational skills 
  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships with leadership teams and employees  
  • Strong business acumen or the ability to quickly acquire business knowledge  
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a changing environment and deal with ambiguity 
  • Interpersonal savvy and composure in a fast-paced environment  
  • Able to make quick, well-informed decisions 
  • A high degree of personal integrity and maturity including the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information  

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience identifying and driving people solutions which align to business strategy 
  • Extensive experience partnering collaboratively across the HR and other organizational functions 
  • Experience coaching employees and executives  
  • Progressive HR, Organizational Development, and/or Organizational Effectiveness experience  

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field – MBA or Master’s Degree is highly preferred  
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or other HR-specific certification  
  • Experience working HR in a global, engineering-based company 
  • Previous experience working in a start-up environment
