THE PURPOSE:

The Front End Software Engineer with the Operational Web team, will be part of the Software Engineering Function. This person works to implement front-end solutions for all operational services across the cloud and embedded systems.

Ultimately, we will design reliable, scalable, real-time (or near-real time) applications that make Hyperloop One a reality. We are seeking candidates with various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility. 

THE ROLE:

• Develop, implement, and optimize front-end solutions for core transit functions and other operational systems.
• Help design and specify the needs for a user interface of the software that runs the hyperloop.
• Integrate front end systems with operational services.
• Support the creation and maintenance of front-end diagrams and design specifications to aid development, test and maintenance.
• Work closely with the UI/UX team to meet expectations and deliverable dates.
• Keep a customer focused mindset, prioritizing developer productivity and application uptime.
• Champion processes and procedures across the organization.
• Help maintain both agile and waterfall environments with safety critical and safety related systems.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Expert understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experienced understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms such as LESS and SASS.
• Expert understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery.
• Strong written and oral communication skills. 
• Strong interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required. 
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and visuals. 
• Highly self-motivated and directed. 
• Keen attention to detail. 
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Industry experience building and maintaining web based front end solutions.
• Experience working with front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Ember, etc.).
• Understanding of SOLID coding principles and software life-cycles.
• Understanding of performance tools, metrics and benchmarks.
• Working proficiency and excellent communication skills in verbal and written English.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
• Successfully delivered and maintained a major cloud service with a large numbers of end users.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Linux experience.
