About the Role: We are looking for a strategic-minded, analytical thought partner to shepherd best-in-class financial management and operating efficiency as we enter our next phase of hyper growth. As a key member of our team reporting to our CEO, you will lead long-range financial planning and reporting, strategic finance, budgeting, forecasting in partnership with our CRO and COO, in addition to managing treasury operations, tax, and regular cross-department financial analytics. You will be responsible for working with the CRO and COO to create inventory forecasts, to create margin calls and to support on various business models to support business development and company development opportunities. The right person has a results-oriented perspective that is always looking at creative ways to problem solve and create better metrics based off of the company’s KPIs, and someone that sees both the big picture and appreciates execution in its finer details. She or he can thrive in a fast-paced culture where a “never settle” attitude is paramount and a constant improvement mindset is required, but she or he doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

Company Financial Management

  • Drive company-wide financial planning initiatives
  • Drive financial rigor in all strategic decision making, ensuring that our operations are and best-in-class in their financial efficiency
  • Develops analyses and metrics to enhance decision-making and visibility into key financial issues
  • Implements cash monitoring and management systems and predict, manage and optimize cash flow
  • Supports development of internal financial controls and their implementation
  • Work cross departments on short and long-range budgeting
  • In collaboration with department heads, identify and track key performance metrics for each department
  • Collaborates with internal and external accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reports
  • Provide departmental financial intelligence to help drive decisions relating to profitability
  • Support Brand Partnerships on identifying, planning for and creating profitable deals structures that scale
  • Lead financial reporting processes and ensure proper accounting systems are in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintains deep understanding of company contracts and key relationships and how these affect the P&L
  • Be main contact to resolve problems with accounts payable, and T&E departments
  • Review and code all expense reports
  • Oversee accurate preparation of billing for all brand partner programs including events and sponsorship programs
  • Ensure that all corporate financial and operational policies and procedures are followed
  • Liaison for office management issues (office equipment, supplies, etc)
  • Administration of all Human Resource procedures and HR Systems; approve timesheets for staff and freelance staff in support of the CRO, prepare annual sales quotas and commissions earned
  • Track expenses to budget; prepare variance analysis as needed
  • Monthly financial reviews with the CEO, CRO, and COO to assess results and determine actions required to maintain objectives
  • Compilation of annual operating plan working with the CRO & COO to make sure corporate financial objectives are met
  • Monthly revisions of business plan (PM forecasting)
  • Oversight of product P&L Assist with other duties as needed

External & Investor Relations

  • Become the expert on market dynamics and external comps
  • Negotiate and advise on key contracts
  • Financial Reporting
  • Collaborates with internal and external accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reports
  • Manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors
  • Leadership & Strategy oversee, coach, and mentor a positive finance, billing and accounting department
  • Work cross-functionally with the executive team and Board as a financial problem solver and identify how operating performance can be maximized
  • Evaluates corporate investment decisions to ensure most efficient use of financial resources
  • Monitors the company's financial position and makes recommendations for funding strategies and execution strategies that drive a more efficient business (e.g. venture capital, debt)

Ideal Candidate

  • MBA degree preferred, graduate degree required with background with concentration in financial systems
  • Ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of digital ad business economics such as ad product pricing management, ad rate realization and cost controls. 
  • 7+ years of well-rounded finance experience, ideally with a specialty in FP&A
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills
  • Deep knowledge and experience in a financial management function, with an appreciation for strong cross-functional relationships across operating and technical teams
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and with a process grounded in data but with flexible problem solving skills
  • Data-driven and analytical mindset combined with empathy for our customer and mission
  • Demonstrated financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and resource planning
  • Must be able to maintain highly confidential information in a professional manner
  • Understanding of media industry financial metrics and planning
  • Understanding of media industry financial metrics and planning (lifetime value, acquisition cost, etc.)
  • CPA not required but a plus
