STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Job Summary
VIOLET GREY, a luxury digital media and commerce company, is seeking a dynamic accounting professional with 5-7 years of progressive experience and responsibility to oversee its core accounting functions. The Accounting Manager will provide hands-on oversight of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, general accounting, tax, audit, and process improvement, while providing support as needed to the Company’s FP&A function. The successful candidate will be a great problem solver, possess exemplary communication skills, be able to work cross functionally with all levels of staff and management, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and be adaptable to/recommend needed changes. This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and has high visibility, interaction, and exposure to senior management.
What you’ll do
Manage day-to day AR and AP activities, ensuring that: 1) transactions are booked accurately and in a timely manner; 2) issues are addressed and resolved in accordance with the Finance Service Level Agreement (SLA); and 3) AP & AR agings are accurate and comply with Finance policy
Reconcile the balance sheet monthly, ensuring general ledger balances are accurate and foot to sub-ledgers and lead schedules.
Prepare monthly department reports
Participate in the quarterly and annual tax and audit process
Assist with corporate and ad hoc reporting
Assist with weekly cash forecasting
Review Finance and accounting policies, procedures, systems, integrations, etc. for risks and opportunities and propose and implement improvements/efficiencies.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a retail environment (eCommerce, multi-chain Brick & Mortar, and/or wholesale)
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, and/or Finance required. CPA and/or MBA is a plus.
NetSuite or similar ERP system experience highly preferred
Advanced Excel skills required
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
