STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary

VIOLET GREY, a luxury digital media and commerce company, is seeking a dynamic accounting professional with 5-7 years of progressive experience and responsibility to oversee its core accounting functions. The Accounting Manager will provide hands-on oversight of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, general accounting, tax, audit, and process improvement, while providing support as needed to the Company’s FP&A function. The successful candidate will be a great problem solver, possess exemplary communication skills, be able to work cross functionally with all levels of staff and management, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and be adaptable to/recommend needed changes. This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and has high visibility, interaction, and exposure to senior management.

 

What you’ll do

  • Manage day-to day AR and AP activities, ensuring that: 1) transactions are booked accurately and in a timely manner; 2) issues are addressed and resolved in accordance with the Finance Service Level Agreement (SLA); and 3) AP & AR agings are accurate and comply with Finance policy

  • Reconcile the balance sheet monthly, ensuring general ledger balances are accurate and foot to sub-ledgers and lead schedules. 

  • Prepare monthly department reports

  • Participate in the quarterly and annual tax and audit process 

  • Assist with corporate and ad hoc reporting

  • Assist with weekly cash forecasting

  • Review Finance and accounting policies, procedures, systems, integrations, etc. for risks and opportunities and propose and implement improvements/efficiencies.

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of  5 years relevant experience in a retail environment (eCommerce, multi-chain Brick & Mortar, and/or wholesale)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, and/or Finance required. CPA and/or MBA is a plus.

  • NetSuite or similar ERP system experience highly preferred 

  • Advanced Excel skills required

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills 

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail 

  • Excellent communication skills and business acumen

  • Able to analyze problems and provide coherent solutions
