About the Senior Revenue Accountant at Headspace:

We are looking to add a key new member to our incredible accounting team, specifically to manage revenue and billing. Our ideal candidate will love all things accounting, be able to drive & automate the process end-to-end and collaborate with management & other cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Business Development, and Engineering). You’ll take great pride in being system savvy, detail oriented, personable and able to take both direction and initiative. 

This position reports directly to the Controller with plenty of opportunity to grow into a supervisory capacity over time. 

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

• Ownership and oversight of the revenue process from beginning to end.
• Execute and review month-end close processes, including ensuring proper revenue and cost recognition under ASC 606, preparing journal entries, verifying merchant activity, reconciling all corresponding balance sheet accounts, and preparing reports for management
• Identify opportunities to establish and implement accounting systems, processes, and procedures that are automated, efficient, and able to scale with our rapidly growing company
• Implement internal controls to mitigate risk
• Assist with Sales Tax and VAT software implementation (Avalara) and maintain processes going forward to ensure proper filings and remittance of tax 
• Manage the revenue tracking system (Zuora), working closely with Engineering to ensure data integrity and implementation of best practices 
• Analyze new partnership contracts to determine proper accounting treatment
• Review and submit business customer invoices
• Support collections efforts if issues arise 
• Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Controller informed of all critical revenue related issues 
• Help with the annual audits and special projects, including the preparation of technical accounting revenue memos, as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a fast-paced startup environment
• BA/BS in Accounting
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, with a focus on revenue recognition
• Proficient knowledge in Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Mix of private and public accounting experience
• Proficient in ERP and billing platform experience
• CPA Certification 
• Experience with NetSuite and Zuora
• Exposure to sales tax software (Avalara) or filings 
• Multinational currency experience (specifically in the UK/EU)
