THE ROLE
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to help support the Merchandising team at Thrive Market. This role will report to the Finance Director and will assist in evaluating price competitiveness, analyzing product revenue and margin, and performing category reviews to assess SKU productivity and performance relative to forecast. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is striving to successfully influence an organization while working cross functionally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform pricing analyses to evaluate how Thrive Market prices compare to those of competitors and to similar brands and products on site
- Monitor price changes to help identify impact to sales/price elasticity or potential tradeoff to other brands/items
- Evaluate portfolio performance and assist with month end reporting, comparing margin and revenue performance to budget and prior periods and identifying and communicating key drivers
- Analyze new product launch proposals to ensure financials are in line with category and portfolio targets
- Support the development, analysis, and forecasting of the financial plan
- Assist in preparing presentations and presenting insights to drive decision-making at the executive level
- Assist in preparing data to evaluate and support detailed category reviews (determine category role, analyze SKU and brand productivity, identify areas of risk and opportunity, etc.)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to thoroughly understand business objectives and drive successful outcomes
- Complete ad-hoc analyses focused on margin optimization and competitive pricing positioning
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5+ years of experience in financial/P&L analysis
- BS/BA required (Finance, Accounting, Economics preferred)
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and skilled at summarizing data into PowerPoint presentations
- Experience in consumer products or retail is preferred
- Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) is a plus
- Must possess excellent analytical, conceptual, communication and interpersonal skills in addition to the ability to think creatively
- Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to an ever-evolving environment
- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
