Viant is looking for a Senior Manager/Director of Internal Audit. The position will report to Viant’s Audit Committee with a dotted line to the EVP of Corporate Finance and Accounting and VP Controller. This position will be instrumental in developing the company’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program. This position will also help develop longer term strategies for Viant's internal audit department, including expansion of the enterprise risk management (ERM) function, establishing a formal risk-based operational audit methodology, and supporting multiple regulatory compliance requirements. You will work with all levels of the organization, including members of the Audit Committee Board. Additionally, you will manage Internal Audit's external partners (external auditors, outsourcing partners, control owners) who assist the company with SOX testing.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the SOX implementation process (covering responsibilities for SOX compliance, including managing Viant's co-source partner)
  • Promote collaborative relationships with important partners
  • Ensure governance and risk management processes through development of risk assessments and audit plans
  • Organize and support regulatory compliance and audits
  • Lead essential aspects of the Internal Audit strategy and important programs, represent the Internal Audit department on interdepartmental teams
  • As an important member of the Viant team, provide strategic direction and expertise in audit approach and execution
  • Drive delivery of internal audit plan following established methodology and agreed quality standards while meeting key performance indicators
  • Meet regularly with the Audit Committee to report the status of Internal Audit’s ongoing monitoring activities, educate/inform the committee of emerging risks and/or exposures (whether internal or external to the company) that should be considered, and serve as a “thought leader” with respect to risk management and internal control best practices
  • Proactively inform senior management of significant risks or exposures related to internal controls, compliance, and/or governance requiring prompt attention
  • Update/develop process documentation to support management’s SOX assessment
  • Lead scoping efforts for management’s SOX assessment and create report on final assessment of internal control over financial reporting for the fiscal year-end for management’s review
  • Perform internal controls assessments of acquired companies or joint venture companies and lead efforts to mitigate identified control deficiencies
  • Manage the process to track, follow-up, and ultimately close all open audit issues leveraging the Audit Committee, if necessary.
  • Engage in discussions with management to ensure that Internal Audit is well-informed of key business developments that could have an impact on audit priorities and/or plans
  • Ensure that Internal Audit is performing its work in accordance with established professional standards and remain abreast of emerging trends and best practices that can be incorporated into the function
  • Participate in critical business and technology initiatives and projects ensuring that the audit's perspective is effectively voiced and appropriate controls are designed and implemented on a proactive basis

Qualifications:

  • 8 to 10 years of accounting/auditing experience – with at least 5 years in external/internal audit
  • A BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • Big 4 firm experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with technical accounting, SOX/audit methodologies, and risk management within a complex environment – technology industry experience highly preferred
  • Professional Certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.) is preferred
