The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and analytical Director of Finance & Business Analytics with strong quantitative skills to drive our organization's financial operations and improve financial performance. This exciting role offers an opportunity to leverage your expertise in a high-stakes, high-visibility role that reports directly to the co-founders of ettitude.

 

Our Director of Finance & Business Analytics will own long-term strategy, planning, sales forecasting, working with co-founders in setting financial targets, supervising accounting (external), overseeing internal controls, monitoring expenditures and cash flow, and managing tax compliance (external). Additionally, the role will guide and oversee all ongoing and ad hoc analyses throughout the organization in support of marketing, operations and new product launches. Your skills in sound financial planning coupled with your ability to manage financial assets efficiently will assist our organization in implementing effective financial strategies, managing debt, lifting top-line, maintaining a healthy financial position, and enhancing investor confidence.

 

The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, good strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, exceptional numerical proficiency, and strong leadership skills. The Finance Director should harmonize financial operations, derive insights from data to help inform strategies for marketing and operations, develop effective financial strategies, guide efforts towards financial stability, monitor all financial activities, promote revenue growth, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, and maintain good relationships with investors.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute our financial strategy, planning, and analysis in collaboration with the co-founders
  • Lead, prepare, and coordinate the annual and quarterly budgets, forecasts, and long-range strategic planning processes partnering with all functional areas across the business to ensure alignment of business and financial goals
  • Enhance our sales forecasting capabilities by continually increasing our accuracy, granularity, and agility
  • Work cross-functionally to provide quantitative-based insights and recommendations that support revenue growth targets and improve profitability, operating efficiency, and effectiveness across the organization
  • Deliver monthly analysis and reporting of financial results—including variances to business' plan—to ensure key issues, risks, business growth drivers, and opportunities are clearly understood and highlighted and to track the overall financial health
  • Implement and oversee systems, processes, policies, and controls to ensure scalable and secure financial operations
  • Develop and lead our finance and analytics team
  • Manage our external accounting, audit, and tax functions as well as internal controls
  • Provide the management team with support for board presentations, business development, and fundraising opportunities.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field
  • 5+ years experience of financial planning & analysis, strategic planning, accounting and/or audit experience, ideally working at a startup or a product-based e-commerce business
  • Experience in a data-driven management consulting, investment banking, or business analytics role is a plus
  • Proven ability managing and coach small teams tasked with a broad scope of work 
  • Proficiency in database and accounting software, ERP (Netsuite) experience is a big plus.
  • Strong aptitude for math and excellent financial modeling, quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to present concepts, recommendations, and analyses to senior management in a clear, concise, and actionable manner
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and establish strong relationships
  • Comfortable in a startup environment with evolving organizational needs
  • Autonomous self-starter with a hunger to learn and adaptability to change
