THE PURPOSE:

The Cost Analyst will play a critical role within the FP&A team at Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO), and will be responsible for estimating total system costs, including materials and labor, in conjunction with VHOs engineering and manufacturing teams to help guide product planning and development.

THE ROLE:

• Provide research and analysis of labor costs, material costs, and schedule to support engineering development and manufacturing efforts
• Work with internal engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure cross functional alignment within the organization
• Work with systems engineering to support the company’s product development plan
• Develop and manage cost models
• Develop productivity and learning curve forecasting metrics
• Perform make vs. buy analyses
• Participate in strategic initiatives that focus on efficient utilization of resources, financial analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with the Supply Chain team in identifying suppliers
• Work in conjunction with FP&A team in developing and maintaining monthly financial reports, annual budgets, and quarterly reforecasts
• Work with Business Development teams to prepare estimates and bids for clients

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering
• Advanced Excel skills
• Demonstrated experience costing capital equipment and supporting purchasing decisions
• Experience creating cost models and analyzing large data sets
• Experience with FP&A, financial reporting, analytics, and modeling

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Engineering undergrad and MBA a plus
• Previous startup experience and/or experience working in the aerospace, automotive or manufacturing industry
• Proficiency with ERP and financial systems
