Vice President, Dev Ops and Content/Media Engineering

We currently have an opening for a Director, Business Intelligence.  This position will be located in Burbank, CA.

Position Overview

The Vice President, Dev Ops and Content/Media Engineering will be a key member of the Platform Operations leadership team. This executive’s core responsibilities will be to drive the end-to-end DevOps automation effort for the Deluxe ONE platform, lead a highly productive and agile DevOps team capable of foreseeing and resolving obstacles before and as they occur, and lead a Media engineering team focused on implementing new concepts and technologies relevant to media processing and distribution architectures. This position is based out of Burbank, CA.
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the end-to-end DevOps automation effort with an infrastructure-as-code mindset
  • Oversee the entire CI/CD pipeline including the phases below:
    • Code and commit (GitHub)
    • Release and Orchestration
    • Deployment (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Foreman, Beanstalk, Lambda, Kubernetes)
  • Lead, manage, and hire for the DevOps team with a steady, vibrant, agile, and hands-on leadership approach
  • Ensure that you maximize the productivity of your team, especially by foreseeing and resolving obstacles and dependencies before they occur
  • Produce high-quality software following good architecture and design principles that you and your team will find easy to work with
  • Put in place and enforce best-in-class processes for ensuring high quality and zero downtime for DevOps managed platform technologies and microservices developed by the team
  • Ensure collaboration, communication, and proper expectation setting across teams
  • Research, evaluate and adopt next-generation technologies
  • Participate in architecture reviews related to performance and scalability of products
  • Interact with development, product management, business analyst, enterprise architecture, QA, and support teams throughout the product development lifecycle and continue in an ongoing operational product support role supporting all aspect of media processing.
  • Operate with efficiency and autonomy while developing professional expertise in a fast paced agile environment where operational priorities change quickly.
  • Maintain media encoding, transcoding platforms and analysis platforms, to ensure the highest accuracy, stability, performance and quality.
  • Establish and maintain operational capacity metrics for all media processing platforms to include encoding, transcoding, editing and analysis.
  • Designs, creates and documents transcoding workflows for production deployment and facilitates workflow initial and ongoing training for Operational Departments.
  • Research new concepts, methods, and technologies relevant to media processing and distribution architectures  

 

Qualifications
 

  • At least 10 years of operations experience, including over 5 years of executive management experience within a growing company that offers a suite of service offerings. 
  • Highly analytical, with proven success driving operational excellence and ensuring that improved processes are being executed throughout the organization.  Examples of improved quality and customer satisfaction, in addition to reduced costs. 
  • Demonstrated success building processes that enabled a business to rapidly scale and support aggressive growth.
  • Track record of using data and metrics to identify opportunities and achieve results. 
  • At least 10 years experience in large-scale digital media services, with deep expertise in content distribution technology.  Preference for candidates with depth of experience in video content.
  • 7 years experience driving efficiencies and building processes around digital media work-flows. 
  • Successfully managed relationships with content owners or content service providers.  Ability to understand and clearly articulate the business objectives and priorities for both sides.
  • Ability to predict market trends and focus on high-impact initiatives that capitalize on future opportunities.   Track-record of adjusting strategies, operational structure and processes to keep pace with evolving consumer behavior around content consumption.
  • Significant experience influencing and gaining buy-in at the Board level by articulating the importance and value of focusing on and investing in a best-in-class operations infrastructure.
  • Ability to develop action plans and make farsighted investments directly linked to company’s vision and mission.
  • Creates compelling vision, which people throughout the organization want to create and implement together.  Sets clear direction, aligning people and resources accordingly.
  • Hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” mindset, with a passion for the industry and ability to be a driver and change agent in an organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of building teams by recruiting, retaining and promoting exceptional talent in a fast paced and aggressive growth environment
