The Electronics Validation Engineer will be responsible for the validation of Electronic Control Units and Power Electronic Units for various function in the vehicle. The Validation Engineer will be involved in all aspects of the validation effort for the electronic and power electronic components. The Validation Engineer role will be responsible for the mechanical aspects of testing as well as component electrical functionality during test and the statistical correlation to real world failure modes.

Responsibilities and Goals

  • Use DFMEA to establish DVP&R design validation plan and report based on achieving statistical confidence and reliability for failure mode avoidance in the application environment.
  • Create test cases and test profiles based on vehicle, system and component requirements.
  • Create high level strategy for validating various components and sub-systems in the vehicle.
  • Specify and source equipment and resources required to support component validation testing.
  • Work with Test Engineering to setup and execute validation tests, ensure documentation of validation processes and definition of output data.
  • Train operators for running tests and collecting data.
  • Review and analyze results for completeness, accuracy and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform design review by failure modes and support design engineering on root cause analysis of component failures.
  • Define test priority along with request for quote and statement of work documentation for sourcing, scheduling and coordinating with external test facilities.
  • Author validation test reports and ensure traceability for test data and documentation.


Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
  • 5+ years in electronic component or system validation automotive industry
  • Statistical analysis and analytical experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands on exposure to automotive electronics
