Test Automation Engineer
THE PURPOSE:
Some of the main responsibilities within the Development Engineering group at Hyperloop One is to collect, organize, store, and distribute data to the engineering teams requesting the tests. The Test Automation Engineer will help build and maintain tools for all of these tasks. They will specifically focus on Data Acquisition and Control Systems for existing and upcoming testing assets to make sure that accurate and appropriate data is collected and stored in a reliable and repeatable manner. This data must be organized in such a way to ensure full traceability and documentation of configuration and results. This data and infrastructure will ensure that a superior Hyperloop product is developed that meets all requirements from every stakeholder.
THE ROLE:
As the Test Automation Engineer, you will:
- Contribute to the definition and implementation of software projects for the Test and Development Engineering department
- Define, implement, and maintain scalable, modular, and reusable data acquisition systems for test rigs
- Define, implement, and maintain control systems for test rigs
- Produce maintainable, well-documented, and readable code
- Ensure accurate data is collected and saved to a database
- Select sensors to fulfill data acquisition and project requirements
- Adhere to database integration and supervisory networking requirements within the department
- Create additional software tools and processes to streamline testing and reporting
- Adheres and contributes to Test & Development Software best practices
- Train and mentor junior Test Automation Engineers
THE CANDIDATE:
The candidate for this role must exhibit technical leadership capabilities and work openly and collaboratively with others throughout the Hyperloop One organization. They must be a motivated self-starter who is capable of creating and executing detailed projects when given a high-level vision. They must be able to contribute to the creation of and adherence to strict testing processes and procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or related software/engineering field
- 4+ years of experience developing data acquisition systems with LabVIEW.
- 4+ years of experience developing control system software with LabVIEW
- Understand advanced concepts relating to analog and digital acquisition and signal conditioning
- Understand advanced concepts relating to RS-232, TCP/IP, UDP, GPIB, and other common communication protocols
- Experience with distributed acquisition and control applications
- Experience with the NI CompactRIO platform
- Experience with troubleshooting field wiring of sensors
- Experience identifying and improving signal to noise ratio for sensors
- Source Code Control experience using Git or similar tool
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working under a regulated industry with reporting requirements
- Experience working with database integration
- Certified LabVIEW Developer or better
- Experience with LabVIEW Real-Time and FPGA Modules
- Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint
