Overview and Responsibilities
As a Senior Director, Video Engineering you will mentor and lead a group of onshore and offshore developers, attend planning meetings, and work closely with partners to set direction for video initiatives. In this role you will be considered a specialist in your area and will help build an Over-the-Top (OTT) software platform designed to stream video for some of the biggest broadcasters in the world.
This is a critical role with a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Technical leadership and team management with a focus on mentoring
- Organizational leadership and project management
- Video engineering architecture and design
- technical leadership with technologies such as: NodeJS for Backend, GoLang including knowledge of migration/refactoring to GoLang
- Extensive technical and business communication
Basic Qualifications
We believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience in order to be successful in this role:
- 10+ years of technical team leadership and mentoring with a focus on video
- Project management and technical organization skills
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Cloudformation, Kubernetes, Helm
- Git, Github/Gitlab/BitBucket/Similar
- Jenkins, Circleci, Ansible, Salt, etc
- Microservices Architecture (API Gateways, Bulkheads Circuit Breakers)
- Video (FFMPeg and Transcoding, HLS & DASH)
- Performance, Optimization, & Monitoring (Flame Charts, Apache Bench, Charles Proxy - Profiling and Benchmarking; Splunk, SolarWinds, Conviva, New Relic, SignalFX and Associated Agents - statsd, Smart Agents, etc)
