Job Description

Rightsline is currently looking for a Sr Database Developer/Administrator. This position reports directly to the VP of Engineering to ensure that we make the best product possible. We are looking for great developers who are comfortable working in a fast paced and fun environment. As part of our Engineering team you will get to utilize and expand your skills in SQL, AWS, DBA, reporting, datamarts, and new cloud-native BI technologies.

You will be working in a collaborative environment with a team who shares your passion for building something impactful.

Skills we are looking for:

  • Expert T-SQL Skills
  • SQL Server 2014/2016 administration Including:
    • Backup/Recovery
    • Always on Availability Groups
    • Replication
    • Change Data Capture
    • Temporal Tables
    • Stretch DB
  • Database Design and Architecture Experience
  • Performance Tuning
  • Managing large datasets

Preferred Skills:

  • SSIS/SSRS/SSAS 2014/2016
  • Other technologies in our environment where experience or knowledge would be helpful:
    • Team Foundation Server
    • Jira
    • Amazon Web Services
    • Izenda 6/7
    • JSON
    • PowerShell
    • R
    • Python
  • Experience with working on Agile teams
  • Experience with issue/change management software (JIRA or VSTS)
  • Continuous Delivery Tools for SQL
  • Testing tools for SQL

Examples of what you will be doing:

  • Developing and supporting stored procedures
  • Administering database architecture (EC2 instances and RDS)
  • Tuning queries and optimizing indexes
  • Working with Business Analysts (and customers) to define report requirements
  • Developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing reports
  • Learning the latest programming techniques and technologies
  • Contributing to overall BI strategy and long-term data success

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent
  • Excellent analytical and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Innovative thinking and commitment to technical vision
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and be accountable for work product
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and self-motivation
  • Ability work with a wide range of colleagues on varied initiatives
