At GoodRx, we believe that all Americans should have access to convenient and affordable healthcare. As a nation, we spend about $3.5 trillion annually on our healthcare, but too many Americans struggle to get the care they need, and prices just keep rising. Our marketplaces for prescription medicines and telehealth have helped Americans save more than $20 billion since 2011. GoodRx is a profitable business funded by top-tier investors; we're based in Santa Monica with additional offices around the country. We're a low-key and tight-knit group that likes to find new ways to fix big problems. If you share our belief that you can do well by doing good, let's talk.

We are looking for experienced developers who are eager to build new products and features – pushing the limits of our mobile applications while also ensuring that they are creating a great user experience for the user. You have strong experience developing user interfaces for applications on Android and know the Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.

As our Android Developer, you will work closely with the rest of our design, product, data, and mobile team to turn ideas into tangible user experiences – turning wireframes into high quality, reusable, and beautiful Android code. We want you to own everything Android and come up with solutions to each challenging problem independently. You will be required to identify, analyze, and correct issues such as bottlenecks, bugs, dependency problems, memory leaks and help maintain high stable code quality, organization, and automatization. Our ideal candidate should have developed several native Android applications with complex functionality and significant user bases. Bonus points if you have worked with Kotlin, RxJava, RxAndroid, Retrofit, Dagger, or MVVM.

Responsibilities

  • Android development throughout the entire lifecycle
  • Write clean, robust, modularized code to build product and features
  • Architect, design, implement new features, and improve existing
  • Create and maintain testing infrastructure for unit & automated testing
  • Lead and push the boundaries of the Android code base by researching and evangelizing emerging mobile technologies and sharing that knowledge with the team
  • Build rapid prototypes to demonstrate new features and product ideas quickly

Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of software development experience in Java and object oriented design experience, including working knowledge of standard libraries and design patterns
  • Experience building highly performant and well-architected experiences that stand the test of time
  • Deep understanding of core software concepts, including networking, security, memory management, multi-threading, and application life-cycle management
  • A track record of shipping consumer apps that have pushed the UX envelope
  • Knowledge of latest mobile emerging technologies, architectures, and trends
  • Proficient in debugging and performance tuning and experience with various testing frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset
  • Experience with continuous integration / continuous delivery

Extra Credit

  • Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • At least 1 non-trivial, mobile app in the Google Play store
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Always eager to learn and familiarize with cutting-edge new technologies
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs, push notifications, and continuous integration
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Hands-on experience supporting multiple versions of Android SDKs, screen resolutions and device types
