Taboola, the world’s largest content recommendation platform, is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer to join our R&D Team in Downtown LA. This team builds Taboola Newsroom, an innovating editorial tool powered by Taboola’s predictive engine and massive data set of over 1B internet users. Taboola's Newsroom product directly helps writers, editors and special-interest teams within newsrooms make in real-time informed decisions to increase their readership. This role will be a part of a small team led by an experienced R&D team lead.

In this job you will:

Develop one of the largest real-time big data operations in the world to support over 60TB of new data every day
Have end-to-end ownership:
Develop, ship, measure and maintain our backend services
Collaborate with a diverse group of software engineers
Directly Influence the way billions of people discover the internet

Requirements:

5+ years of professional programming experience in Java (Java 8+Spring) or equivalent Object-Oriented language
Production systems understanding including the architecture of web products
Passion for solving problems, and working very close to the business
Experience working across multiple teams

Nice to have:

Experience developing large-scale distributed systems
Experienced with Kafka/Spark/Docker
Exerpience with web systems (API / REST / NGINX)
Experience with SQL and NoSQL (mysql / Vertica / Cassandra)
Experience in Big Data tools
Knowledge in algorithms, data-mining and machine learning
