Who We Are:

DMAI is an early-stage startup committed to developing top-notch Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for education. As a team of UCLA and Harvard alumni including post-docs, PhDs, and undergrads, we’re looking for highly motivated individuals that are willing to develop creative solutions. At DMAI, you’ll work alongside a growing team of experienced researchers and accomplished entrepreneurs in Computer Vision, NLP, and unified AI.

DMAI’s office is located in the heart of the Westwood Village area of Los Angeles. We are less than a mile away from UCLA and a short ride to Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and the Los Angeles Airport. Westwood Village provides all the best that LA has to offer in a relaxed, neighborhood atmosphere.

DMAI is looking for a full time developer responsible for building apps based on the Unity framework. Your primary responsibilities will be to research and develop solutions to unique engineering problems and to implement app/game functionality, translating design ideas, concepts, and requirements into a functional and engaging game. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and a quality product are essential. To succeed in your role, you should be willing to learn new technology and you should have strong R&D skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implement game functionality as per communicated design.
  • Research new methods to implement emerging technologies.
  • Come up with innovative solutions to solve engineering problems.
  • Translate design specifications into a functional game.
  • Communicate with other team members to establish effective pipeline and integrate media assets.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to address and mitigate these problems.

Required

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in Unity development.
  • Strong research skills, with the passion to apply research papers into practice.
  • Excellent knowledge of Unity, including experience with scripting, textures, animation, GUI styles, particle systems, and user session management.
  • Familiarity with level design and planning.
  • Experience with mobile game development.
  • Experience optimizing memory and space usage for support of older hardware.
  • Ability to constantly learn and stay in touch with evolving game standards and development technologies.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with current design and architectural patterns.
  • Knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code.
  • Proficient knowledge of code versioning tools, specifically Git.

Preferred

  • Knowledge in Shader programming.
  • Experience with plugin integration (Android, iOS, C++).
  • Experience with editor tools authoring.
  • Scrappy and resourceful attitude.
