Software Engineer Lead, Tactical Autonomy
About Epirus
Epirus is the creator of a revolutionary electromagnetic pulse (EMP) technology designed for protecting the world's skies and airspaces from Unmanned Airborne Vehicles (a.k.a “drones”). Among counter-drone solutions, our technology is unique in its capability to disable entire swarms of drones quickly and effectively. The core innovation behind this marvel is Epirus’s SmartPower(TM), an intelligent power system that optimizes power-efficiency and dramatically reduces size. At Epirus, we’re on a journey to push the boundaries of what’s possible for the future of power electronics.
About the opportunity
In this role, you’ll build real-time software systems that detect, track, and autonomously disable airborne drone threats with beams of directed energy. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience or interest in autonomy, performance optimization, or gaming. Here are some examples of things you might find yourself working on:
High performance, highly optimized systems for tracking and engaging hundreds of airborne vehicles
Systems to target high-velocity airborne vehicles with pinpoint precision
Intelligent prioritization systems that pursue optimal actions in congested and dynamic environments
What you’ll bring to the table
4+ years coding experience in a modern systems programming language such as C++, Python, or Java
An understanding of real-time performance and an ability to optimize software in large systems
A firm grasp of Data Structures, Algorithms, Design Patterns, and other Computer Science fundamentals
A sense of urgency, with demonstrated ability delivering technical projects on time
Maturity as a technical leader; experience architecting solutions and mentoring other engineers
What makes you an exceptional candidate
6+ years professional software engineering experience
Experience implementing autonomous decision-making or AI behaviors in commercial or entertainment software
Understanding of linear algebra, 3D mathematics, and/or geographic coordinate systems
At Epirus, we strive to be fast, efficient, and limitless in our approach. This agility, combined with a culture of innovation in systems development, allows us to move quickly without losing the decades of lessons learned.
We have developed technologies that leverage new breakthroughs in sensors and high-power microwaves, combined with computer vision and advanced software control. Our first broad-market application is a comprehensive defense system to defeat offensive drones at scale.
