Job Description
As a software engineer on the Configuration Platform team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a shared solution to allow sellers to configure Square to better meet their needs. This includes back end solutions for adding seller-specific attributes to domain models; grouping items; using this data in filters, workflows, and reporting use cases. This team owns both back end solutions and web SDK solutions.
As a member of the BID team, you will:

• Contribute to a team environment where we can do our best work and live our best lives!
• Design drop-in web components that provide data extension, search, and filter capabilities to any area of Square.
• Design and develop highly available, tier-0 back end services.
• Build systems that manage customers' sensitive data and hold Square to the highest standards for security and compliance

Qualifications
You have:

• Understanding and curiosity in creating highly available, scalable, low-latency, global systems.
• Technical initiative and a desire to make those around you better
• Experience with incident response, including disaster recovery
• Eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others.
• Experience implementing Data Storage services at scale with one or more of the following databases: MySQL, DynamoDB, Amazon RDS, Elasticsearch
• A knack for creating readable, well-crafted, maintainable code.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $167,300 - USD $204,500
Zone B: USD $158,900 - USD $194,300
Zone C: USD $150,600 - USD $184,000
Zone D: USD $142,200 - USD $173,800
