Senior Software Engineer - Data Engineer

Are you interested in joining a leader in Virtual Reality? NextVR delivers live events in virtual reality for devices like the GearVR, Oculus, Google Cardboard, etc. Our Core Services team is growing and we are looking to hire a Data Engineer. You will be responsible for architecting our backend data models and components. You will own the integrity of our data from end to end. You will work closely with Backend Engineers to handle data migration and versioned access to the database. You’ll work alongside engineers and our QA team to ensure that the data model is complete, has redundancy and is secure. You will work with our skilled DevOps Engineers to ensure performance and capacity are acceptable.

We are a team that moves quickly with 2-week sprints. The ideal candidate is someone who knows how to balance quickly adding value while at the same time managing technical debt to maintain long-term efficiency.

Our technology stack includes: GoLang, MongoDB, Redis, Postgres, MySQL, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery

Primary Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into logical data models per today’s modeling standards and industry best practices.
• Provide guidance to API and data model design and development.
• Define strategy in REST API Data Model, Data Integration, Architecture, Data Quality and Metadata Management
• Ensure data consistency on both production and analytical databases. Implement database design for RDBMS and NoSQL such as Mongodb.

Requirements

• 5+ years relevant experience
• Data migration experience
• Vast SQL knowledge
• Knowledge of Mongodb scripting
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
• Expert in data integrity, performance, and consistency
• Ability to write efficient SQL queries and Mongodb Queries
• Understanding of building RESTful APIs
• General scripting experience such as BASH, Perl, Python, etc.
• Some coding experience with programming languages like C, Java, Python, GoLang are a plus.
• B.S. in Computer Science
