Senior Software Engineer - Supply Chain Technology (Java/AWS/Back-End)
Job Description
The team for this role is located in Seattle. If you are already located in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, or Los Angeles, you can work remotely from that location. However, if you are located elsewhere, you must be open to relocating to Seattle once employees return to the office.
We have several new roles that will be opening soon for Nordstrom’s critical Supply Chain Technology teams -- Fulfillable Inventory, Fulfillment/Routing, and Returns. Each team builds scalable micro-services to provide inventory availability and deliver promise to our customers (Fulfillable Inventory); route and fulfill all Nordstrom full-price and off-price web orders (Fulfillment); and power best-in-class returns logistics and restocking. All three teams are critical to Nordstrom’s ecommerce business growth. You will partner with product and program managers to build large scale, distributed, REST and event-based services and applications. This team’s work directly contributes to the company’s multi-pronged business objectives to continuously improve customer shopping experience, enhance customer satisfaction and increase company revenue.
A day in the life…
Responsible for feature design; evaluate designs and provide feedback
Implement complex features within owned services, which satisfy business objectives, with high quality
Influence quality standards and understand, identify, measure across entire solution
Maintain high level of coding, testing and engineering standards
Analyze service errors, identify performance issues and optimize solutions
Demonstrate strong knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals
Lead projects inside teams with focus on outcomes and customer experience
You own this if you have…
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering
4+ years professional experience as a software development engineer
3+ years of experience having actively used Java or Go to write production code
3+ years of experience in full SDLC for 2+ cloud services at scale (minimum 10s of TPS), having led and contributed to design, development, validation, deployment and monitoring of several features for those services
3+ years of experience in collaborating with other disciplines like program management and product management to deliver features
Prior software development work experience in supply chain technology at a large retail company is a bonus
Knowledge in event driven design and implementation patterns, containers and micro-services, REST APIs, AWS are a bonus
