Senior Engineer

A Senior Engineer is part of a team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and secure principles to design, build and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. The scope, responsibility and accountability are at the solution level as well as splitting larger designs into work units. 

We are seeking a Senior Engineer with time and attendance experience to join our Workforce Management team.  You will be mentoring and collaborating with engineers to rebuild our time entry solution which supports over 40,000+ JWN employees across our retail stores, distribution/fulfillment centers and corporate offices.  This application tracks time punches ensuring our employees are compensated for their time worked. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join us on the ground floor of rebuilding our time entry solution!  This will be a combination of enhancements and greenfields development!!

A day in the life…

• Responsible for feature designs across the entire solution, evaluates designs and provides feedback to peers
• Designs, develops and implements software and data integrations while adhering to Nordstrom’s engineering standards using agile methodologies
• Ensures solution quality of software and tests all scenarios at the solution level
• Influences quality standards and understands, identifies, measures across entire solution
• Identifies performance issues and implements optimized solutions.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals
• Understands security protocols, interprets security and compliance requirements
• Leads and works with other software engineers on Engineering patterns, design best practices and conducts code reviews
• Resolves complex engineering problems while collaborating with and influencing others
• Leads multidimensional projects that involve multiple cross functional teams
• Prepares documentation, such as Technical Design Specifications

You own this if you have… 

• 5+ years professional experience in designing and implementing business solutions & technologies and/or a related Bachelor's or Master's degree
• Experience with Workforce Management Applications, such as JDA, Blue Yonder, Kronos, ADP, Ceridian…
• Must Have Experience with: JAVA, Kubernetes, SQL, JSP, Java Script, JQuery, Kafka CI/CD, HTML
• Nice to Have experienced with the following:  Java Struts, Oracle DB, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Docker, GitLab, Spring boot framework, Python, C#, Airflow, PowerShell, JSON & XML
• Experienced with AWS Cloud technologies
• Experience with containerization (K8s/Docker)
• Experience in Full stack development will be a plus
• Familiar with RESTful architecture and micro-services
• Familiar with real-time data streaming (Kafka/Flink/SQS) will be a plus

Hourly and salary pay ranges specific to Colorado are listed below, which is provided in compliance with Colorado law.  Nordstrom continues to remain competitive with pay and benefits in all markets.

Hourly

Minimum - $12.55/hr

Maximum - $46.10/hr

Salary (Non-Exempt and Exempt)

Minimum - $30,200/annual

Maximum - $289,200/annual
