Tradesy is seeking an exceptionally talented Senior Front-End Engineer to expand and maintain our core Tradesy product and help us migrate to React.

The successful front end engineer will work closely with other engineers, designers, and product owners to develop and maintain web applications that are beautiful, fast, extensible, maintainable, accessible, and robust. They will effectively communicate about timelines, challenges and tradeoffs and help support a workflow that runs like a well oiled machine. 

This role reports directly to the Front End Engineering Manager.

You will: 

• Build new features to excite and delight our users
• Maintain our consumer experience for Tradesy.com
• Ensure that the impacts of your changes on the system are fully understood across the team
• Work closely with product/design to give early technical feedback on how features and other changes are implemented, how they affect timelines, and what tradeoffs they require
• Support our migration to React and SSR (Node)

You Have: 

• 5+ years of experience building beautiful web applications using HTML, CSS and ES6+
• 5+ years of experience working with frontend frameworks like jQuery, Angular, React, Vue, Backbone, etc…
• 2+ years of experience with React and SSR (Node)
• Solid grasp of SASS and related tools preferred
• Solid understanding of frontend tooling like webpack, babel and gulp
• Has developed multiple large production applications using modern JavaScript and web development technologies. Exposure to a good mix of the following technologies would be ideal: Node, Babel, Gulp, Webpack, React,, Jest, , TypeScript, JQuery, SASS etc…
• Has been involved in writing extensive web applications with complex dependencies and infrastructure
• Excellent understanding of frontend performance

The ideal candidate

• Is an excellent communicator. Knows how and when to apply different communication styles to effectively communicate ideas, technological approach, trade-offs, etc…
• Loves working on a team and collaborating cross-functionally with other team members

• Enjoys mentorship. Coaching is the defacto mode of operation.
• Is a major advocate for testing. Works closely with Software and QA Engineers to maintain excellent coverage of automated tests (unit, functional, integration and performance tests).
