Job Description

We’re looking for a Lead/Senior Software Engineer (Tech Lead) for our Orange Team. The tech lead is both an engineer and a leader. On any given day, they might be architecting new features, coordinating the work of their peers, or implementing their own tasks. They’ll mentor junior staff while also staying focused on the objectives of the team. Our tech leads are strong – they play a pivotal role in the success of the suite. They are fluent in Unity C# – system architecture, build configurations, and art pipelines. They are also team players, with excellent communication, who enjoy working closely with peers - artists, designers, and product owners. This is a rare opportunity for an awesome senior engineer - someone who’s comfortable having significant influence on our most important work. If this is you, then let’s talk!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior engineering to ship successful games
  • Help cultivate a strong, collaborative, high-performing team
  • Architect, build, and maintain games in Unity C#
  • Grow your peers, while also growing yourself
  • Triage bugs, integrate SDK’s, and mentor junior engineers
  • Improve the Art Pipeline (ex UI/UX, animations, particles)
  • Improve our production tools
  • Communicate timelines, own tasks, and participate in Scrums
  • Relate to our mottos: “Speed, Not Haste” and “Agile Reliability”

Qualifications

  • B.S. in a relevant field (or comparable studio experience)
  • Expert in Unity, with an emphasis on 2D, UI, and/or Game Logic
  • 6+ years in game development with proven past performance
  • Previous senior experience with strong OO skills
  • Emphasis on reliable, maintainable code
  • A growth mindset that embraces continuous improvement (i.e. Kaizen)
  • Leadership experience (desired, not required)
  • Excited about evergreen games that touch millions of players

As technical director for the “Puzzle Suite” of products, McBride recently worked on a project to create Monopoly Solitaire. “We had to deliver a new product quickly while leveraging a codebase developed by another MobilityWare team,” McBride said. “The final product is a testament to the effectiveness of collaboration across several app teams and is a result of team members sharing tech and putting their heads together.

We lean heavily on Unity as our core engine. That’s supplemented by a robust suite of internally developed tech that we use for ad mediation and ad serving, privacy systems, and a variety of third-party components.
