Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an outstanding opportunity in its Space and Launch Division for a Senior Software Developer. This position is based in El Segundo, CA. This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. *Basic relocation is available for internal candidates.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system. Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities. Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics. Leads software research and development projects. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards. Trains and mentors others. Works under consultative direction.
As a Senior Software Developer, You Will Be Expected To:
- Focus on software engineering/architecture for satellite ground systems.
- Responsible for: planning of overall satellite ground system development, approaches and integration tools, technology platforms required for design, development, execution, and integration of subsystems.
- Enforce software standards by defining software architecture attributes (rules and principles) for all software systems and ensures software reuse across the IPT.
- Lead Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) software efforts to define Use Cases and Threads of the system to be utilized by the scenario-based testing.
- Function as the System Architect in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and is responsible for coordinating with Program Management and Release Train Engineer (RTE) to ensure successful execution of Program Increments (PIs), goals, and objectives.
- Coordinate and contribute to Boeing Enterprise requirements for software in the Boeing product line.

Required Qualifications, Experience and Education:
Basic Qualifications Required:
- This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed within the last 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Technical field.
- Must possess 9+ years' experience in full life cycle software development.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience in software engineering/architecture for satellite ground systems.
- Experience planning of overall satellite ground system development, approaches and integration tools, technology platforms required for design, development, execution, and integration of subsystems.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) software efforts
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
