Role Overview
Reports to the Manager of Engineering, this role will work with a mixed team of on-site and off-site software engineers to turn our Product roadmap into reality!
Responsibilities
- Own entire platform (microservices, REST & GraphQL APIs, Data lake, event architecture, ETL, databases, API gateways), from research to end-to-end implementation
- Ensure engineering methodologies, and implement tools, frameworks, agile, security (FERPA, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI/PII, tokenization etc), accessibility, compliance, performance, HADR, etc
- Experience in a variety of open-source technologies, working with cloud services, modern UI frameworks (React), Backend (RESTful APIs, Node.js, microservices, serverless, etc.)
- Mentor junior engineers and work collaboratively to develop and build upon the skills of all team members
- Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code. Help define, contribute, and support the broader Technology strategy.
Ideal Profile
- 5+ years of software engineering experience delivering large scale, global, high traffic, and highly available consumer-facing web-applications, and mobile apps
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in building data science solutions, data modeling, ML/AI and big data platforms such as Snowflake, Spark, Hadoop
- 1+ year experience is plus in implementing and maintaining AWS services such as EC2, RDS, Mem caches, S3, ECS, and Lambda
- Proven experience in Databases such as NoSQL/RDBMS, MongoDB, Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aurora and Elastic-Search
- Mid to Expert level experiences in building ETL jobs and data pipelines using one or more: Spark, Kafka/RabbitMQ, Airflow, SNS, SQS, NA
- Proven experience building with: machine learning, data mining, predictive modeling, statistics, experimental design, computational analytics, and data visualization
- Excited by the challenge of building a world-class business that delivers not only high revenue growth but also has a meaningful impact on society!
- Exposure to higher education institutions through direct experience and/or passion for the education space.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a “no job too small” startup mentality
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative: Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Statistics, or related fields.
