THE PURPOSE:

 

This position is responsible for testing, troubleshooting and calibrating a variety of mechanical & electronic industrial measuring devices to ensure they conform to established standards. Sets up equipment for tests and measures accuracy of instruments and adjusts instruments to calibration standards.

 

THE ROLE:

A successful candidate will independently perform calibration, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electronic and electromechanical measuring and test equipment (M&TE). Key responsibilities include:

  • Schedule calibration events, perform scheduled and unscheduled calibrations, repair Measurement and Test Equipment
  • Coordinate calibrations of QA, Manufacturing, Product Development and Engineering equipment
  • Calibrate a variety of electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and environmental control equipment
  • Conduct physical calibrations such as, but not limited, to calipers, micrometers, torque tools, ovens, temperature controllers, gauge blocks, surface plates, pressure gauges, scales, and force gauges
  • Generate and maintain traceable calibration records
  • Conducts assigned evaluations in an accurate and timely manner. Tests include a variety of techniques, which require technical expertise and knowledge of state-of-the-art metrology, validation, documentation and auditing
  • Development of calibration procedures and methods so support specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements
  • Set up standardized laboratory equipment to test and measure accuracy of instruments which are used to record voltage, magnetic resistance, and other factors
  • Develop appropriate control plans and inspection methods to maintain process controls
  • Support ISO 9001 certification in appropriate business units and factories
  • Develop and implement plans for major capital improvements and maintenance projects
  • Incorporate Lean Manufacturing-based concepts into all aspects of work

 

THE CANDIDATE:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct research into issues and products & present ideas in user-friendly language and visuals
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient with PC tools such as Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Work effectively as a team member, work with little supervision, and communicate effectively with team members
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong experience in the repair and calibration of electronic/electro-echanical, process control equipment and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications including ISO/ASME GD&T
  • Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent from two-year College in technical field is required
  • Strong understanding of ANSI Z540
  • Aerospace, Automotive Manufacturing, or Civil Construction environment

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Engineering or related field
  • Certified Calibration Technician (CCT)
  • Formal Training in Metrology such as Precision Equipment Course (PMEL)
  • ISA Instrumentation Certified
  • Experience in Test Engineering
  • Program and use of CMM, vision systems, and form tracking systems
