System1 is looking for a Senior Frontend Developer to work on one of the largest mapping apps in the world, MapQuest. Working at System1 still feels like a startup, but we have the structure, revenue, and profits of an established and successful company - and we are growing rapidly! 


If you like to architect and develop large scale web applications used by a massive user base using modern and emerging technologies, be part of the decision making on new features and architecture, work with the support team to always improve the product, then you will thrive on this team. The ideal person will not only be an expert software engineer with a focus on front-end development, but also a collaborative team player with infectious energy and a desire to communicate ideas with colleagues.

The Role You Will Have

  • Architect, develop, and optimize large web applications
  • Design and implement product features to efficiently serve millions of users
  • Serve as a technology leader within the System1 engineering organization
  • Own tasks end to end, taking projects through the full engineering lifecycle
  • Collaborate and problem solve with a tight knit group of engineers and stakeholders
  • Drive change with a high degree of autonomy and lightweight planning processes
  • Assist the client support team using your technical background

What You Will Bring

  • 5+ years development experience with web applications
  • Able to deliver high quality features on new and existing web applications using React, Node.js, AngularJS, Scala with Play framework
  • Able to refactor existing codebases with best practices and emerging technologies
  • Familiarity with agile development practices
  • Experience working with Git version control in a collaborative team environment, creating pull requests and performing code reviews
  • Proven ability to mentor other engineers
  • Experience with AWS or the desire to learn
  • Excellent communication and time management skills

He was able to balance his work at System1 with assignments and studying, and now, he’s implementing what he learned on the job. Currently, he and the data science team are working on an algorithm to optimize System1’s advertising on a new network. Their custom-built machine learning infrastructure makes it easy to deploy new algorithms and track performance.
