MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate for the position of Senior Endpoint Engineer must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer information systems, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a related field such as information technology or higher education.
  • Exceptional understanding of Microsoft and Apple operating systems (Windows, MacOS, iOS, etc.).
  • Extensive experience in desktop engineering concepts, such as registry editing and command-line utilities.
  • Extensive experience with physical mobile devices as well as mobile device management and security.
  • Extensive experience with security tools such as antivirus and firewall applications.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Windows Batch, VBScript, Unix shell, etc.
  • Extensive experience monitoring device image quality, deployment, adoption, and performance across an organization with the use of automated tools and reports.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Active Directory service.
  • Experience with servicing Tier 3 support tickets from front-line support, faculty, and internal groups.
  • Extensive experience with back-end engineering tools used to deploy lab and desktop workstations.
  • Experience implementing virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI), application streaming, and cloud VDI and infrastructure solutions.
  • Excellent design, implementation, and troubleshooting experience with various workstation provisioning tools.
  • Proven ability to interpret, analyze, and apply pertinent policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements.
  • Ability to assess the criticality of problems and prioritize based on importance and urgency.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience presenting ideas and solutions in non-technical, business-friendly terms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for the position of Senior Endpoint Engineer has the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer information systems, or another related field.
  • More than eight years of experience in a related field such as information technology or higher education.

THE WORK YOU WILL DO

The Senior Endpoint Engineer enables collaboration with a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders in administrative and academic units to provide best-in-class, reliable, and secure mobile, workstation and computer lab environments for the USC community. The Senior Endpoint Engineer deploys new technologies involving large-scale workstation management and software virtualization. As a member of ITS, the Senior Endpoint Engineer demonstrates ITS values in action.

Job Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with others across the organization including customers, vendors, and stakeholders. Communicates positively and effectively with others. Designs and maintains the virtualization environment that supports client operating systems per customer requirements, service level agreements, and manufacturer recommendations. Leverages enterprise configuration management tools to centrally and remotely deploy configuration changes and post build client operating system and application updates.
  • Sets strategy to develop and deploy innovative endpoint solutions to enhance the effectiveness and customer experience of the customer computing environment. Provides technical leadership and expertise to enhance endpoint protection strategies, including enhanced antivirus, malware protection, application whitelisting, and threat defense solutions in collaboration with the ITS Information Security team.
  • Engages with customers and stakeholders to identify opportunities and pain points. Oversees and provides expertise in troubleshooting support for issues escalated by the ITS Customer Experience team. Develops and maintains tutorials and training resources.
  • Facilitates innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging the latest industry knowledge. Analyzes and initiates innovative technology solutions.
  • Continually develops skills, knowledge, and abilities in endpoint technologies. Maintains awareness of emerging technologies and makes recommendations on adoption.
  • Understands and utilizes best practices to effectively troubleshoot and solve problems. Analyzes highly complex, diverse, and, at times, conflicting data to identify root causes. Makes sound decisions to benefit the business.
