WHY WE NEED YOU
Quality Engineer shall support the business in the areas of new product development of the Electromagnetic Engines, manufacturing integration, supplier engagement, product verification, technical data review(s) and quality system management.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The successful candidate will perform mechanical engineering design reviews, quality inspections, resolve technical discrepancies and support supplier engagement for the development electromagnetic engines. Additional key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and verify engine assembly requirements, designs, and integration, including coil winding, magnetization, machining, brazing, welding, encapsulation, lamination assembly etc.
- Resolve quality issues and guide the team to implement best practices as the product matures from protype towards production level
- Serves as the point of contact with suppliers, leading discussions regarding manufacturing quality issues and deliverables
- Oversight of Nonconformance/CAPA execution and act as a mentor in problem-solving and root-causing activities.
- Lead and participate in the development and improvement of the PFMEA & inspection processes for existing & future assets.
- Support manufacturing transfers, supplier changes, and PPAP to minimize quality issues for future projects.
- Support part and assembly drawings review to facilitate subsystem build, manufacturing processes, and assembly, test, and formal commissioning.
- Engage and interface in internal and external audits providing subject matter expertise.
- Act as a liaison with engineering in developing validation tests, test specifications, and in-line test equipment.
- Conduct, review, and approve first article inspection reports per AS9102 or equivalent.
- Travel to suppliers to perform assessments or resolve time sensitive quality issues
WHAT YOU’VE DONE
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated track record of success in a rapidly growing, changing, and highly technical environment - ability to act and execute in a scrappy, entrepreneurial manner against tight timelines.
- Proficient with PC tools such as Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Project.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Experience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience developing control plans and/or PPAP.
- Experience reviewing and developing DFMEA.
- ISO 9001 or equivalent industry auditing experience internally and externally.
- Kanban application and integration experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to grasp or manipulate objects with one or both hands.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use office equipment in the course of normal duties.
- Ability to work on a construction site in hazardous condition.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a field related to Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent certifications.
- Hands-on working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and advanced concepts of GD&T principles.
