ABOUT US:

Phyn is changing the way people think about water. In just nine years nearly two in three people may face a shortage of clean water. Yet in the U.S alone, people unknowingly waste a trillion gallons of water per year, largely because It’s an invisible problem that is hidden behind the walls, underground, or simply ignored. But what if it could become more visible? We believe that creating the tools to bring issues to light before they start is the key to saving water, saving money and, just maybe, saving the planet.

Phyn is the result of nearly a decade of research, development, lab and field testing. We are preparing to launch and we need an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer who is passionate about supporting the testing of products, systems and applications across all phases of the product development life cycle. Someone who wants to apply best practices and forward-thinking testing solutions, and who wants to actively contribute to the long-term success of our product, and to having a hand in improving the availability of our global water supply for generations to come.

We want a creative, resourceful, and ambitious Quality Assurance Engineer that is eager to innovate solutions to automate testing of water sensing, wireless consumer IoT devices and their associated experiences. Someone constantly looking to improve system architecture and identify design challenges that may block ideal user experiences. If you want to get your hands dirty from initial evaluation of technical aspects of hardware and firmware, all the way through to a smooth software/app integration, while working on products that will have an impact on solving a major global issue, this is the QA Engineering opportunity to consider.

WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO:

  • Test it: You will lead and implement all testing across hardware, firmware and software for our IoT products, including but not limited to Wi-Fi, iOS, Android and AWS.
  • Own it: You will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering testing automation workflows and content, including creating training documentation.
  • Develop it: You will write and execute test cases from product requirements and UX specifications and continually optimize testing procedures. You will create acceptance test criteria for proprietary and third-party
  • Identify it: You will reproduce concerns reported in the field - from alpha/beta programs through commercial releases and report and follow up on defects logged in all system components. You will work with third party vendors or customers for debugging and tracking issues.
  • Improve it: You will examine PRDs, UI specs and seek to improve system architecture to overcome design challenges that may block specified UX functionality.

WHO YOU ARE:

You want to work on challenging problems with smart people. You’re someone who could get positions at most software companies, but you’re looking for the perfect role that has great leadership, a roster of top talent, game-changing product vision, and a work hard/play hard company culture.

You also meet most (if not all) of the following requirements:

  • Proven, hands-on scripting automation experience using Python and/or other commercial or open source test automation tools and programming languages, 2 years or more preferred.
  • Demonstrated, hands on experience with ApTest, Jira, Python, UNIX scripting, Android/iOS App testing, Embedded Systems, Raspberry Pi, and networking technologies.
  • Solid knowledge of Wi-Fi and other home networking technologies. If you have experience with IoT products testing or development, we definitely want to hear from you.
