Platform Engineer
About the Role
- Design, build, deploy and maintain the core cloud infrastructure
- Build and maintain cloud environment standards, security, and governance programs
- Monitor site stability and performance and troubleshoot site issues
- Scale infrastructure dynamically to meet rapidly changing demand
- Collaborate with the engineering team to bring new features and services into production
- Develop and improve operational practices and procedures
- Design, build and maintain the interfaces and abstractions between services used by the entire engineering team
- Discover, diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks at scale before our users notice
- Regularly participate in code reviews and other team functions
Requirements
- 3+ years software engineering experience with a focus on backend or platform development in a cloud environment
- Comfortable with and working knowledge of one or more of Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Terraform, Vault, Consul, DataDog, PagerDuty, FluxCD, Git or Bash
- Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritizing and organizing these tasks to maximize productivity
- Self-starter with strong communication skills
- Ability to lead cloud architecture decision-making
- Eagerness to tackle problems outside your core competencies and learn new technologies as required
- Strong CS fundamentals and problem solving skills
- Experience programming in one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, JavaScript, Python, C/C++ or Go
- Effective communication skills, a positive attitude, and ability to give and receive constructive feedback
