Tinder brings people together. We have a small, dedicated Engineering team with one of the highest ratios of users to engineers in the industry, making every member of the team critical to our success. We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead our Discovery engineering team.

The Discovery team is responsible for the main Tinder swiping experience, displaying rich profile information and finding new matches. The Tinder card stack is at the core of the most iconic experiences among mobile apps today, featuring one of the most utilized gesture recognizers in the world. We allow users to connect with people they like, creating over 20 million new matches per day.

As an Engineering Manager on the Discovery team, you will:

• Lead a team of 5-10 mobile, web and backend engineers to build and shape the best experience for Tinder users to discover each other (e.g. the Swiping experience)
• Define and own the objectives and key metrics for your team, and devise a development strategy and roadmap
• Collaborate with many cross-functional teams (product, design, backend, analytics) to execute on that roadmap, and deliver it with high quality in a timely manner
• Mentor and coach the career development of your team
• Recruit and build a world-class cross-functional engineering team

We’re looking for:

• 5+ years of mobile and/or backend engineering experience
• 2+ years of technical leadership experience
• Someone who has led a team to ship mobile apps at scale
• Passionate about mobile app development in a collaborative setting
• Wisdom to know when and how to make technical trade offs
• Someone who is not afraid to make critical decisions and has a bias towards action
• Ability to inspire and motivate the team to go above and beyond
• Deep knowledge of mobile architecture patterns (e.g. MVVM, Clean)
