We are engineers and technicians, skilled scientists and bold innovators; Join us and put your passion, determination, and skill to work building the future! #TheFutureIsBuiltHere #ChangeTheWorldBoeing Research & Technology is seeking a Mid-Level Propulsion Engineer (Level 3) for development, integration and demonstration of Advanced Propulsion Concepts and Technologies as part of our team in Huntington Beach, CA.Note: This role may require up to 10% travel.Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and integrate advanced future propulsion systems to enable new products and meet anticipated requirements.
  • Partner with business units to develop technology solutions to existing propulsion/nacelle performance gaps or anticipated customer and regulatory requirements
  • Employ Model-Based Engineering, to conduct trade studies and performance analyses that assess benefits and risks of new technologies on advanced or existing propulsion systems.
  • Apply various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to measure or calculate system performance.
  • Plan and conduct propulsion tests including bench, wind tunnel, rig, or full scale ground/flight tests.
  • Supporting technology teams creating new propulsion design concepts.
  • Leading small internally-funded propulsion technology projects.
  • Supporting or leading proposals for government CRAD contracts, or projects for internally funded programs.
  • Briefing external customers and internal leadership as well as suppliers and team partners

This position is considered hybrid. Some telecommuting is allowed, however onsite work will be required at the listed location in Huntington Beach, CA. Note: The expectation for this role is 3 days onsite in Huntington Beach and 2 days remote but can be subject to 5 days onsite.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience using propulsion system sizing and performance principles, tools and processes
  • Experience with engine cycle modeling and conceptual sizing tools (i.e. NPSS)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in design, modeling, analysis and certification of propulsion systems, engines, fuels, and auxiliary power systems
  • Experience in planning and conducting wind tunnel, ground, or flight testing of performance characteristics of propulsion systems, their components, or supporting technologies.
  • Experience with design and integration of power extraction systems (e.g. Ice protection, bleeds systems, electric power, etc.)
  • Experience pursing and executing US Government Contracted Research and Development contracts

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
