Mechanical Engineer at Relativity Space

The Factory Development team at Relativity Space builds and operates the cells that will print the world’s first 3D printed rocket boosters. The Mechanical Engineer role on the Factory Development team is responsible for selecting, designing, creating, and maintaining hardware for automation facilities, including full production systems. The ideal candidate should have an excellent understanding of mechanical design, integration with robotics, proficient in CAD suites, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly and efficiently.
Your main objective will be to successfully implement mechanical systems that support launch vehicle production, up to and including full robotic printing cells. Relativity Space is focused on 3D printing rockets and associated hardware with the ultimate goal of 3D printing a rocket on Mars. Mechanical Engineers are key members to the Relativity Space team by designing, analyzing, and building out robotic printing cells. Managing large projects from conception to completion is a key objective to attaining our goals.
The ideal candidate will be an outgoing individual with a self-starter attitude. A successful mechanical engineer at Relativity Space will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with internal and external customers/suppliers to support company needs. Having worked with large capital equipment and implementing robotic and automated systems is desired.
Minimum Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years industry experience
- Mechanical design experience with automated systems and integration with robotics
- Manufacturing experience in a fast paced environment
- Experience completing projects with minimal oversight
- Proficient knowledge of a CAD suite
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Hands on experience with machine tools, assembly operations, welding
- Experience with ANSYS
- Experience with CREO
- Experience with KUKA robots
