Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer works closely with the other engineering functions (EE, SW, Systems integration, Layout, TPM) to design, develop, test and produce robotic fulfilment system hardware that improves DC cubic density and throughput to improve customer experience. The Mechanical Engineer must have a curious mind and solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, CAD skills and practical experience. Good business acumen is required to support data driven decisions. iHerbSCS team solves ambiguous problems and is highly collaborative.
Job Expectations:
Develops AGV and robot designs, enclosures and storage solutions using a variety of high volume commodities/processes - fabric, stamping, forming, punching, casting, molded/fomred plastics, etc.
Establish system and module specifications for internal and external (CM) use
Create standard detailed component designs and drawings
Scope, manage , and deliver multiple technical projects in parallel from concept to production
Present solutions to peers and executives to communicate milestones, achievements and challenges
Maintain high level of communication with cross-functional team, and partners
Key team member – must work well with others as a respected design contributor
Ability to work in a highly ambiguous environment
Generate RFPs
Travel as necessary to support development and manufacturing
Practice DfX
Apply system and module level statistical tolerance Analysis
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
Demonstrated experience working with various commodities (Stampings, Castings, Molding, Machining)
Experience with complex mechanism design for mass production, reliability and low cost
Expert level SolidWorks skill (CAD)
Experience with the project management of phase gate technical projects a plus
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
Equipment Knowledge:
2+ years understanding of robotic system design(Motors, Drives, Mechanisms)
Experience Requirements:
Generally requires a minimum of 2 years of practical experience in Mechanical Design
